I got a text from a mate on NYE saying" I can't fucking believe this - they're playing Ghost in My House at Stoke, I'm off to slit my wrists", told him I didn't believe him and now I have to phone to apologise....

Was it The Fall's version ?

I reckon that over the Christmas/New Year period is a good time to play a few formerly popular, but now deeply uncool tunes - lighten up - you could always dance ironically if it makes you feel better.

we cant take all the glory...well ok we can take 99% cos Tim didnt really want to play it. But 1% must go to him - and why when the first time i went up to say hello was that the first record he showed me? Unless of course he thought i would do a runner with a record..good point and good thinking on his part i spose.

what was more shocking is that it seemed like it was only me who was clapping to it. is it so underplayed now that people cant remeber where to clap? and FYI i hadnt heard this out for about 10 years!

Well I know I enjoyed dancing to it on NYE and so did all the other people who packed the floor to dance to it.......... top tune for a party. Of course I could always blame all this on Roger Stewart since it was him who bought me a bottle of Bolly for Christmas which I in turn drank before going to the do and was pretty wasted all night LOL

Stayed at home too Stevie due to work the next day, had a blinding night playing records....just me and the Mrs.....no floor to please or fill, had a brilliant session, played records from 8.30pm through to about 2am with Irma Thomas in between of the Jools Holland show....fantastic.oh and we got very drunk...lol

2pm today, just got in to work, a mate WHO WAS THERE came to see me , ihadn`t even mashed yet. THEY PLAYED BLOODY GHOST IN MY HOUSE AT KINGS HALL ,he gasped.OH? WHAT DID HE FOLLOW IT WITH???. ERRR?? obviously the damage was done,ERRdont remember...,.,well done tim brown after all it was bloody newyears night. i would have followed it with IN THE YEAR 2525' ...whats all this about the clap going round the kings hall??? or in the wrong places???? just love the idea of the IRONICAL or the SARDONICAL are they some thing like the MADISON.. next time i come to the kings hall i want to see some of those cut out steps on the dance floor for us all to follow.sorry if you dont know what i`m talking about..sorry to all of you that KNOW what i`m on about

AS GOD IS MY WITNESS - yes - it was played TWICE - anyone that says otherwise is wrong

The one time I went to Stoke they played records like that and also more than once...they played Tell me it's just a rumour" 3 times...twice with the vocal, once without...This old heart of mine, and God knows how many times they played Ruby Andrews (but I don't think it's allowed to only play Just Lovin you once in a night)...

So, although Richard badgers me week in week out to go to Stoke, I've resisted a further visit so far

If you can't play club classics at a NYE do, then the world's coming to be a sad place, it's that one night of the year when every record should be an oldie, and this is from a guy who travels to hear something different on most other nights I go out. No I wasn't at Stoke, but if I had attended oldies would have been what I expected, so no disappointment. I stayed home, watched Jools Holland (Erma) and listen to R2.

I agree, funny, nobody seems to say anything about what is played sunday night at cleethorpes and that is party night with a lot of so called 'club soul'

Get a grip people, it was a laugh, fun, remember the thing we all started going out for in the first place

ps Wendy, I can honestly only remember hearing it the once

the last hour at Stoke was practically all white soul! at least that's what it sounded. and the second last song of the night was I Dont Wanna Discuss It. Even Little Richard doesnt like that tune, it's awful
