Yep defo a different on that's for sure the other had a big green cross on label in felt, just proves if you look long and hard enough the rare ones are still out there to be found ...

All these X's could be demos sent to radio stations, this side up.

Arther's (off ebay) had a stamp with the date on? Sep June 1968? Ish.

the seller of the one thats on now appears to be getting greedy...in danger of pricing themselves out of the market

To be fair Dave ,it's only on eBay because the seller has been made aware of the price it's been fetching on eBay of late .

She told me it had a reserve of $5k when it was listed last time ...it reached just over $2500 ,so rather than put a reserve ,she has set a high start price .

If it doesn't sell ,it could be going back in the box and under the stairs for another 5 yr !

I think that last part was a attempt at a sales pitch .lol

probably a bad time to sell it seeing as 2 have just sold on there but its not good ebay/selling etiquette to keep putting the start price up by $500 every day. at least now we know the seller is genuine it would attract several bids but now its at $5000 start ( and may rise again tomorrow) they might price themselves out of the market...... maybe she should have a buy it now clause

Surely it would have been better to just put it on at the price she wanted in the first place rather than keep upping it every day?

As for under the stairs for another 5 year? I doubt that somehow. If it doesn't go on Ebay it will probably be sold privately to one of the many who have emailed her. Good luck to her, can't say I blame her.

Why defend her Nev, normally you would pick up on stuff like this and Lucky Davis and highlight it. It's plain greed. A high start price is no different to a reserve IMO. Stick a decent start price on it and let it find its own value. It's not as though she laid $1000's out, it cost her nothing.

This person happens to have a copy of a rare 45 that has been selling for $5000 + and has decided to cash in her chips ... if she had feedback score of a 100 or more it would have sold straight away imho .

In the real world and as Joan touched on .... she will have had emails off countless people who have tried to prise it from her for a lot less ,but she's not that naive ,so fair play to her .

Its out of my price range ..but if anyone fancys a dabble and wants to own it ,then it's gonna go for a lot less than the last two copies and its a bloody nice copy too!

The fact that her father in law is a close friend to Ron Trombly and has had it since it was made ,is a good enough reason for me why she is worthy of a good price !

I don't dispute who she is or even suggest she is a dodgy dealer just that by upping the price over the course of the auction is a bit out of order really.

If your right and im wrong ... how come the guy who's a mate of Greg Belson's ,(which is irrelevant ) put his up for $6000 and got 5 offers and sold it for a very good price .

Surely he would have been better putting it up with a low start price and let the market dictate the price ?

But the fact he has 99.8 % positive feedback score over 3000 items ...might have swayed peoples judgement as to wether he was trustworthy enough to send that kind of money to.

I do agree with you on one thing though .....its just an average record :D

Maye if she'd told everyone the records and her history she might have better results. Feedback does count for a lot these days especially when something is going to cost a fair bit of money.

Not totally sure but i thought anyone now selling on ebay with a low feedback score ,has to wait until feedback is given ,before being allowed to draw the funds from sale ?

No matter how much feedback you have I don't think you should be able to spend or draw money from any sale until feedback is received and both parties say and mark the transaction as complete.

Anyway it will be interesting to see if this sells or if she has screwed the auction up by increasing the start price.

as there are many buyers who for various reasons dont leave feedback in that case there should be an ebay rule that all buyers and sellers MUST leave feedback. I am somehow always a bit dissappointed when after selling a nice item, sending it well packed and out fast the buyer isnt interested in leaving feedback. you ask the buyer if theres a problem, no the answer everything in good order, still no feedback though...maybe its ONLY the German part in me though...always rying to collect medals LOL

totally agree ref: feedback marc,,, the only reason i reactivated this thread was about the start price increase daily...the seller obviously not very experienced in the field. good luck to anyone winning this 45 and its a smooth and easy transaction.for the record its a nice enough record but......................

to add something to this, in the mid 80,s i had this on a tape, along with many unknowns which could have come from anyone. the tape came from last days of wigan being open. sure i played this tape to rob marriot in those days as he used to travel, esp 100 club, with our group- we only had cecil washington as the artist- this is (my proposal) co- groove- followed on the tape by the flint emeralds on same label + one other tune also on same label,(could have been flip) but no artist listed, many of my friends in those days were aware of this-naturally a bit of an iconic name, and for sure for many years thought this was a cover artist-speculating that its prob the flint emeralds-untill the late 80,s when i managed to get a copy of both discs from m koppel i think.  What else is on the label?? sure that pete lawson was also aware of this earlier than the play dates listed above. So too r searling, g rushbrooke, j poole. at the same time i remember trying to get someone on the case with the magnetics-i have a girl - to no avail then- tastes and preferences were much more staid back then and pushing such discs a hard road to hoe. w cummings also from the same era/tape.

Sure this one is in to double figures, been offered 2 privately this year, none to my knowledge from those listed in this thread as having one. [sure Pete Lyster has this also] 

 

Turned them both down for 2 reasons, firstly I didn't have the money at the time and secondly they were at £ 5k and £ 4k a piece.

 

Its a record I would love to own, but have always believed more would creep out and the price would fall back to around £ 1.5 - £ 1.7k ; still alot of money of course.

 

It seems more have crept out BUT demand is even higher and the price has been maintained. This exceptionally high one noted............

 

I guess it means I am unlikely to own one and will have to be content listening to it out and about :-)

Ron Trombely was not a session musician for Cecil Washington but the Drummer and Lead singer on this track for the band Soul Incorperated which I was the keyboard player and co-arranger. These are not words that would have come out of Mr Trombleys mouth and thus B**L S**T!!!!!!!

....and I cry THAT WAS A TONGUE IN CHEEK ATTEMPT TO WRITE A FUNNY ST**EME*T...but no problem as you as an American MUST have dificulties in understanding a German who tries to be funny the English way. Furthermore I have the deepest respect for you as the keyboard player and co-arranger on one of my alltime favourite records. So you can shout bullshit to me actually as many times you want to and I wouldnt mind. Thank you for this Soul masterpiece.
