That's made me remember, if I had won the wigan anniversary dance comp how would I get the music centre home on the train. Lol

this really isn't an odd item and there is a whole series of J5 cereal box records, I have a few of them but there are more. Obviously a zillion of them were made but not that many survived.

another cutout disc soul cardboard disc that comes up are a series of wrangler jeans advertisements. I have the pirouettes doing "the wrangler stretch" on cardboard, a joyce williams wrangler ad on cardboard, and have seen at least one pop/rock example.

I have them all, (J5) and the Topps Cardboard discs and a whole slew of Hip Pocket records. Can't see why anyone would think collecting them was odd? I know lots of collectors who collect the 'peripherals'. I even have reel to reel, 8 track, etc.

Regards,

Dave

PS.Teapots naff though.

do you have all versions of the wrangler ad cutouts?

These are a lot harder to find intact on the cereal boxes! I have a bunch of the paper backed advertising records also, my favorite is the Chicken Delight one - has some good 60s gogo soundtrack type tracks. I have no idea nor do I care if have 'complete runs' of them. Just thrift store crap that's good for decorations. I'm sure that someone out there is invested enough to try and document all the various discs that came out on cereal boxes and other giveaways. I think the Chicken Delight one actually came with a chicken purchase.

Apart from the product tie ins discs, there are also a handful of ones that were included in 60s teen mags that have garage pop and blue eyed soulish stuff - some of which came out on records, some not.

discovered an old "legendary" San Diego musician I've met a few times over the years being from there, Pea Hix, has an ebay account and sells all sorts of these kinds of things, and plenty more weird ephemera from bygone eras. worth checking out or keeping an eye on if you like these sorts of things, George. made me think of it since you mentioned that "chicken delight" record, as it was in his last lot of listings (unsold if you know someone in need of a copy  ). He occasionally digs up the odd rare piece of soul as well, it seems.
