Posted September 21, 201212 yr I found a Chuck Wood 45 on eBay in VG to VG plus condition someone has for 99.95. I contacted him and I said I would buy it at $25 in that condition. They responded that no, they wouldn't take $25 and that I should go buy a reissue on GEMM. Nice.

September 22, 201212 yr I wouldn't even bother making an offer. It's obvious that he doesn't need to sell the record. Dave

September 22, 201212 yr a records worth is only what a byer is willing to pay i suppose, and the unfortunate thing is the seller may just get his $100 lol you only need to look at prices in jm,s auctions to see the worlds gone nuts
September 22, 201212 yr Aside from the discrepency in the value of this particular record, if I was offered $25 for a record that was listed (and, importantly, actually valued) at $100, I would also say "No thanks, try buying a reissue". That would be me not trying to be cocky, but trying to be helpful. I have often pointed people to places other than my own site if I feel they could get a lesser value copy of the same thing and it is clear the buyer isn't interested in Originals, just the record. I even got a "thank you" once when I had a slow intro take of Frankie & Classicals, priced accordingly, and my "customer" was asking why it was so expensive. I could have BS'd and got the sale, but I felt he wasn't even aware, let alone interested in this variation, just wanted the record on whatever label, so suggeted eBay / Gemm. He came back a few days later and thanked me, as he had found a Pye reissue for a few pounds, and was happy as Larry. On the other hand, I don't sell too many records these days. Cheers Mick
September 22, 201212 yr Author It is an issue copy that is graded VG to VG+. Had it been VG+, I would pay $50. A reissue of this record would only interest me if it was a different version. I thought I would give it ago. I will keep on my want list. cheers.
September 22, 201212 yr How? Because his starting price is too high Pete. If he needed to sell the record it would be much lower, especially considering the condition of the record, which realistically is worth about £40 in clean condition. Referring to Popsike, with all its shortcomings, a VG++ copy sold last week for $41. https://www.popsike.c...0906217709.html You could argue that a M- copy sold for £100 in Feburary but that's the exception to the rule, and does not in my opinion set a precedent for the record's value. If I wanted the 45 I would bide my time...a decent condition copy will turn up for a realistic price, especially with x-mas coming and the need for people to raise some cash. Take care Dave Edited September 22, 201212 yr by Only Dreaming

September 22, 201212 yr i would have said about £5 a while ago, but prices seem to have been rising lately so £15 / £20 for mint one . joe ps, i see it says £30 in manships i can't say i've ever seen one go for that much but thats just me,. Edited September 22, 201212 yr by JOE TORQUAY
September 22, 201212 yr IT might be overpriced but why should he give at away for $25 though? I agree that $25 is a bit on the low side, but the condition is VG/VG+. Maybe the seller should have been prepared to haggle. Dave

Are you answering the question about original UK first issue demo? Easy £50. On Big T label.
September 23, 201212 yr Are you answering the question about original UK first issue demo? Easy £50. On Big T label. This is probably a silly question Pete. Why is the 'Big T' issue relatively cheap if it's the first UK release of the record? Dave Edited September 23, 201212 yr by Only Dreaming

September 24, 201212 yr Are you answering the question about original UK first issue demo? Easy £50. On Big T label. no pete, i was thinking more of the issue on big t, haven't seen a demo for must be a good 20 years so i guess £50 or more will be right, like wise the us demo, i see the odd one on ebay but there dosen't seem to be many of them about either. i've seen / had quite a few issues over the years, guess collectors have been buying up the issues and it's got a bit rarer to find. always been very popular in wrexham used to be loads at car boots a few years ago. never see hardly any now,
September 25, 201212 yr Author I really think $25 was a good starting offer considering it was in VG to VG condition. I would gladly pay more if it was VG+, but the last copy sold for $41, so I thought it was a good starting point. I agree is was a low offer, but haggling on records is part of the fun.
September 25, 201212 yr but haggling on records is part of the fun. Do you think so? I hate it. I've never done it and I hate having it done to me. Same as going round boot sales, I never haggle with anyone, I watch everyone else offering half price but can't bring myself to do it.
September 25, 201212 yr Author @Pete, I've hosted a record fair for almost 10 years in the States, so I guess I've gotten used to it. I don't have a problem paying the going rate for a record if the record is priced spot on with regard to its condition. The one I was after was at least 50% overpriced based on condition. Definitely not wanting to start an argument, Pete. Cheers.

September 25, 201212 yr Think the sellers totally right,if I was selling a record for £100 and someone offered £25.00 think I'd tell them to go elsewhere
