Something that might be of interest to some of you.

Ernie McKone and Michael J McEvoy in the studio preparing the backing tapes for Darrow Fletcher for his visit to these shores. Here you can see them preparing how it should be done etc before the band is assembled to lay down the tracks.

Both Ernie and Michael have impressive CV's both working with major recording artists, films and TV and Michael receiving nominations for Emmy's and actually winning one.

I'm really looking forward to his gig at the 100 Club and that clip has whetted the appetite. I've not been to a showcase at a soul event since Jnr Walker in 1977 so its been a bit of a lay off :yes: Times have changed and judging by this clip a lot of care is going into getting the orchestration/ sweetening to sound authentic. I hope the band gives it some welly - I am sure Darrow will be fired up for it in such a legendary venue. Roll on Thursday!

From the video you can tell the guys are pure perfectionists, so its going to be incredible hearing the tapes come together with Darrow next week

Am I right in thinking the guys will be attending next week? I'm sure I heard it somewhere, if so, it looks like Darrows not the only fella we need to be patting on the back (along with Boxy & Mouse of course)

Also loved hearing Boxy's broad Yorkshire accent on the first one, I didn't want the questioning or the video to end!!!

Pleasure Mike but it is Mouse and Boxy that need thanking for filming them. I've simply put them out there for others to watch.

Have to agree it is fascinating to watch them work. There are about 50 of these clips where they are simply working in the studio. I've then got to get the ones where the band are laying the tracks down which once I do I will upload a few.

I've only recently started to listen and learn a bit more about some of the stuff Darrow has recorded - coincidental really with this current visit. The studio clips on this thread have added an extra dimension of interest.

So, if you could just pick me something up tomorrow - preferably that the man has signed we'll be even bigger buddies. :D

Peter, you've made my day, as when I first discovered Darrow in the mid 80's, I was as excited as you are now about him (you made me smile), and it's brilliant that he's still reaching people.

Ali, I only really knew his big northern 60's 45's from way back in the day. Then over the last few months I've picked up some of his other stuff - via sets from people like Mr Soul Sean Hampsey and perhaps Tats and people like that. All of which I've found via SS and some other sites. I've been blown away by some of his mid tempo 70's stuff - stunning soul music and right where I'm at in terms of style. It's great discovering such quality after all these years. Sounds like yer got good taste too gal! :)

Same here Peter, I was absolutely bonkers about his 60's stuff (still am). If you'd asked me a couple of years ago, I would have said I prefer his 60's over and above anything else he's done, but now they're about equal (ok maybe the 60's just edge it at 55% :D ) The man is very talented and I love it all now :thumbup:
