I got into the northern soul in the mid eighties and grew up on the casino lp' s and singles,so to me the casino had a sound about it...anyway was this tune spun at the casino...it's got the casino written all over it....even though I never went there...I just imagine this was the kinda record that would have done well there?

  • You're right its exactly the type of sound that would have been popular at Wigan in 78, I've never heard it before though

Never heard of it so probably not Casino - then again, I obviously don't know every record played there.

doubt it and it is awful..

It's a great 'pop' sounding record that has had a few plays in the last few years but it's a bit of a 'marmite' 45. I got mine off Johnny Beggs a few years ago and have since sold a couple more. It has a great flip to it, an uptempo version of the old Walker Brothers hit "The Sun Ain't Gonna Shine Anymore".

Wigan? Not to my knowledge.

Dave

......... Dave ......

don't you really mean an uptempo version of the regional US Frankie Valli hit (it was his 1st solo release even though it was cut at a 4 Seasons studio session).

I didn’t know it, but I like it in a ‘Gregory’s Girl’ kinda way - I know what I mean (Cheesy but nice, if ya in the mood for Cheese)....and it’s got a break (1.37) where I would spin round 1¾ times (on a good day!) :)

All the best,

Len :)
