A great track! Great vibe! Beautiful vocals. Played this track a thousand times.

Is there a long version of this one? Other versions?

You mean the one that appeared and disappeared on eBay last year? Don't think it was dodgy - it looked like a genuine Mercury acetate. Just wish it wasn't removed before bidding closed. Can only presume the seller received an offer they couldn't refuse. :(

Didn't imply it was dodgey as such, just queried it as an unanswered question. I was one of those who fancied a bid on it! (see the thread on it). I asked Van Coble re it's existence but he didn't know anything about it. Strange that the only Tempests acetate to appear (to my knowledge anyway) was the one off the Lp that wasn't released as a 45 and held Uk interest. All a bit coincidental maybe?

I was going to say sure I had seen this in the dark corners of a record room......

Talking of making a copy!! Simmy's can sing it just like him if not better. The instrumental hasn't turned up at all.

Go on then... I dare you!

One thing though; how would you make it smell authentic? :g:

It's a case of lessening the smell - don't know how to make the acetate smell less strong

Ah, it's not just the smell of the chemicals. Acetates usually have a certain fustiness to them and a weary look that betrays their age. Or am I confusing them with people?

Chuck it down the bottom of the garden in bad weather - just like yer do wi a new pair of expensive shoes.

It's certainly one of those records that "has it". Maybe hard to put your finger on - but it just has it.
