'Spoilers Rap'

A superb slab of Chicago cross-over-funky-soul by The Spoilers (on Lock) / The Persuasions (on Erica).

Highly recommended...can't believe this one hasn't ever really taken off big style...has it all!

Question: which came first the Lock or Erica release?

Summer Breeze on the flip? I have this Erica disc somewhere I think.

Have had a couple of copies on Erica , never seen the other one on Lock ,but that means fook all !!!

On the Erica disc, yes Dave...also a fantastic tune

The Lock copy however has the instrumental to Spoilers Rap, which works nicely

I was going to say what I thought came first but if you listen to "summer ride" vs. "spoiler's rap" they're clearly not even the same group. That high falsetto in "Summer ride" is Larry Johnson, lead of the majestic arrows, elevation on crown town, etc. and the group is clearly all adults. "Spoiler's rap" is clearly a kiddie group.

It has to be the spoilers first now that the persuasions are not the spoilers. They must have reused the track as a b-side.

i've got the Erica copy too, had it about 18 months, never heard it played out yet though. I am sure it is one that will take off soon.

Have had half a dozen on Erica, but only one on Lock...but that simply reflects what is available over here...it may be different in Chicago and downtown Norwich!

in chicago the persuasions 45 is what shows up, "summer ride" was a hit. however, people like terry gesten have had actual stock of the lock 45. not sure where that leaves the question of "which is rarer".
