this was their biggest hit here in the US, everyone knows this song. there is an incredible performance (it's lip synched but still incredible) in the low budget movie "Darktown Strutters".

this is actually a huge track in chicago because it's a "steppers" track here. but overall not as well known.

Add 'No Rebate on Love' and 'Don't make me no Promises' to that list...

Both killer tracks....

See a Dramatics thread coming on, no complaints here

"no rebate on love" is actually a different splinter group that had wee gee and elbert wilkins

And of course the blindingly obvious "In the rain" - as good as it gets.

Love all the Dramatics stuff, hardly ever made a duff track.

Check out the Michael Henderson written "Just shopping" - sublime.

As was the Theatrics.

Was new to me until I heard it on a Mastercuts compilation late 80's I think. I posted the clip mainly because its the first one on Youtube with decent audio. Previous lowish quality upload was apparently from the son or daughter of someone in the group from his personal collection. Darktown Strutters ( 1975) is uploaded onto YouTube so may give it a watch. Opening scenes look interesting!

Probably been said before but Messrs Banks, Howard and Wilkins were cruelly taken way too early, all three died from heart attacks.

If I had to choose one track above all others it would be "And I panicked"

Somebody should put that up just to remind us just how gifted they all were.

is that right... still great track.. Ive really discovered their material late in life, i always had one or two LP's / 45's but when you start diggin, they simply didn't make anything under parr, and the energy they put into their songs is awesome...

this is just a rumor that they were connected. I think Heikki (*the* dramatics expert, he's on here btw) confirmed that there was no connection or maybe only one common member or something, I don't remember.
