I've just seen a story on the BBC News website about a drum break in the Winstons' Amen Brother (B side of 'Color Him Father') and how it's been sampled in more than 1,500 songs:

I would have thought the modern day acts that sold a lot would have to give royalties.

If anyone wants to listen, the music itself covered it [ sampling etc ] brilliantly with an affectionate look back on the 1991 12' by Subsonic 2 called ' Unsung Heroes of Hip Hop ' on Columbia.

 

Witty witty stuff and a great record. Try it out, even if you're just mildly tempted, just a tweeny bit......you might be surprised how cleverly they put it over !

I forgot, they even sampled Steve Croppers all time desert island top riff from Sam and Dave's  " You don't know like I know", in their, err,  ' tribute '.
