7.10pm and I’m first through the doors to open, or so I thought as Ian “Hammie” Hamilton and Maz (both main guest dj’s) were already there waiting for someone to arrive and something to happen.

A quick set up of the decks, amp, load the ortofon concords and I’m still on my own and guests coming through the doors. Only thing to do is “Maz come up here and play some records from my box”. He duly obliged and I set up the entrance tables to take money from punters and away we went early and this is how it all panned out.

The end of the night and talk about going out with a bang..... mega sets from all the dj’s last night but praise goes to Hammie and Maz for coming all this way to deliver blinding sets of soul music to people who love it. DJ’s who travel the length and breadth of this country get my vote for Prime Minister with their devotion to sharing their collections to real soul fans. As usual Paul Ackley and Nev Griffiths never fail to impress and to keep us all up to date with something new. The next instalment at the Rafa Club is the 5th December 2015 and that will be our last soul session of 2015 and we’ll be back in 2016 on the first Saturday of FEBRUARY 2016..... Hopefully see you all then gagging for more. DJ’s for December and February to be announced.

Final thank you’s go to the punters who support the club – you know who are, without your support we’d have nothing. Thank you.

Paul, Ian, Kev and Paul.
