Mono/Stereo demos didn't really come in until the late 60s, Pete - they were primarily introduced to cater for the growth of FM radio in the USA.

As my genuine (mono) demo of "Don't Pity Me" has "My Block" on the other side, like every other demo of it that I've ever seen, and as not one of my other 40-odd Warner Brothers mono/stereo demos is any older than 1971, I agree that this is indeed a scam of some kind.

Well I've aksed him to supply country of origin, catalogue number, and run off info. Also told him his record doesn't exist shame though, someone is going to get scammed here

My logic said if you're going for the big sounds you'd make more effort to ensure you're not being ripped off. Realise some may still not check, just thought it would be easier to sell a cheaper rip off than a more expensive one.

fill out a bid retraction form stating cannot contact seller, worth a try, or contact seller and ask them to cancel the bid. Failing that, if they win it, ebay says

so if she had a collection dont you think she would have more than one record for sale.Never in allmy years seen a mono stereo..but if it was from Joannies collection could she have a one off / in house copy....Strange because Im sure the flip MY BLOCK was actually the A side..

I hope it's genuine but in my experience - I've never seen an early WB DEMO Double A

If it's an in house Acetate/One off then ?, but the image ........ mmm

SoulSid If iever got ripped off on E-Bayie. If a record wasnt an original, firstly i always get insurance on anything over £30.00 in value, but if the 45 wasnt to my satisfaction for whatever reason and the seller seemed a bit dodgey i would say that the 45 was cracked or damaged on recieving it and claim a refund. I agree. One of the reasons I stopped selling on Ebay was the fact that people were beginning to return records for no good reason and threatening to neg you if they didn't get a refund. I think people regard it as a normal shop rather than an auction site.

I could understand there being a cause for a refund if the goods weren't described accurately or were faulty/damaged, but in one case, the bloke had apparently 'spent too much on records that month' and wanted his money back! He also returned the records (about £250 worth) by normal post without insurance or tracking!
