October 25, 200618 yr Was just going to say about The Accents, hardly any difference apart from the intro.
October 25, 200618 yr Was just going to say about The Accents, hardly any difference apart from the intro. Was a big tune at Stafford, but has always stayed hard to find hence rarely heard out. It is a lot faster than the Accents version. Was Pat's biggest record for about 6 months. Just goes to show though, how few people really went to Stafford, as so few of you know it.

October 25, 200618 yr Was just going to say about The Accents, hardly any difference apart from the intro. The whistle in the Accents one is awful... BTW 700 quid for Jimmy & The Entertainers are a bit too much IMO... Roccia
October 25, 200618 yr I had it years ago Jimmy i mean sold it Tony Parker i think if you listen to the end it just cuts of leaving something. Adey Pierce found out a few years ago when he got the original acetate of it. they had cut the cymbal sound short at the end. Sad bugger arnt i for remembering that
October 25, 200618 yr Was just going to say about The Accents, hardly any difference apart from the intro. They sound pretty different to me vocally. I always assumed Jimmy & Entertainers was a Frat Band cover of the Accents track or something like that. Not that that's a bad thing. on the contrary in fact. October 25, 200618 yr The whistle in the Accents one is awful... BTW 700 quid for Jimmy & The Entertainers are a bit too much IMO... Roccia Why is it? Hardly ever see it for sale and not seen too many over the years. There's dozens of records no where near as rare as this that fetch twice and sometimes three times the £700 quoted.
October 25, 200618 yr An old Wirrina play for yours truly 1975ish and another. Droylsdon? First two the links not working but can see Mitchell Brathwaite and Jesse Fisher. Which Jesse Fisher? Edited October 25, 200618 yr by chalky

October 25, 200618 yr PS why is this under 'Some More Overplayed Oldies', if no one knows it Exactly David...just attempting to prove a point to those that constantly bemoan the jocks who try and mix and match so to speak. The Three tracks encompass the whole price spectrum of our wonderful music from very affordable to 'yeah I'll have one of those" to "fekk off I have kids to feed" Dig deep jocks there are plenty of tunes that should and could get played that graced our scene many years ago inc Jimmy and The E's.

October 25, 200618 yr Old Pat Brady spin if I remember rightly Godz always reminds me of Pat B spinning this at warrington parr hall...there is the cheaper version of this on m-pac though

Just goes to show though, how few people really went to Stafford, as so few of you know it. Dave, I never went there - not to the nighters anyway, I only went to the dayers in 1979 and early 80 - but I knew it independently from Stafford, heard it late 87...but it's been out on cd for a few years, thats why I'm surprised it's not better known. The whistle in the Accents one is awful... BTW 700 quid for Jimmy & The Entertainers are a bit too much IMO... Roccia Yes 690 quid too much...

Your right Paul, that's why I constantly sing the praises of venues like, Lifeline and The Orwell and the DJ's that play there, they work so hard to bring quality not so often heard music, to peoples ears. I read those people comments on here about, why don't people play with more imagination and many of those people who regularly do that on here are never seen at the very venues that do try to do just that. Maybe they just like being grumpy old men, and fear that if they did go to these venues, they would loose the reason for being.

There's dozens of records no where near as rare as this that fetch twice and sometimes three times the £700 quoted. I agree, but was surprised to find that two copies have gone through ebay in the past year or so (a decent looking copy $811 and Vg-, with edge chip, for $243) remarkably cheaply IMO. Wish I'd have spotted them as I'm pretty sure the nice clean copy would make over £700 on Manship's auction. Can only assume these prices were down to too few people knowing it. I remember when Disc used to publish the Wigan casino top 10 - can distinctly remember The Night and Happy being numbers one and two, other records in the top 10 were the still obscure Fidels "I'm giving you notice" and the Mitchell Braithwaite record..

Just goes to show though, how few people really went to Stafford, as so few of you know it. Remember when Dursley used to have a Market on Saturday mornings Dave? There was a girl who had a shoe stall always at the post office end, behind what is now a pet shop. As we approached the corner I would start singing this evey time. And every time Mark, Paul and Bob would stop the car and try to embarrass me into going and asking her name As we would drive on through town I'd move on to 'I love you just the same but you dont even know my name.' Enough of that old pony. Dave do you have a MP3 or whatwever link you are allowed to place on here for one of your tunes from about the same time? Something like Stop the world (I wanna get off) I always forget what it was uncovered as. (Whispering Shadow is it?) That has to be a forgotten oldie but one that I would love to hear again.

I'll upload it in a minute. Believe it or not I swapped it in return for a copy of The Classics on Yan-G with Chris Plant. Saddly I sold the Classic on to Ted, one of the few records I wish I hadn't sold. Hope you still have it Ted
October 25, 200618 yr Cheers Dave. I will check back at half time in the football. Lodger is a Man United fan, so I have to go and cheer on Crewe.

October 25, 200618 yr Sorry Dave, best left in that box of 'not played for 15 yrs' Always been one of those love it or hate it records, no where in between, split opinion then and I guess it still does today.
