going through some old nighter in the car  C90 tapes - I came across this - around 76 / 77 - anyone else remember venue or Dj who spun it 🤔🤔

I played it once once or maybe twice at Birmingham Locarno all dayers in the very early eighties. Always felt it was a bit too fast though.

Cheers Mick - it’s ok till the Mexico pipes come in then comes back strong with the horn section - I’ve asked Brian Rae if he can remember it being played at the casino - 100mph sound with a gram of wizz in you 😉😉 I’ll post if he reply’s 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

About 76....was told about this version, so I'm guessing possibly at least a couple of times at the pier?

a review by the late Frank Jackson in the late 90s on his webpage was informative for me at the time and led me to getting a copy

the album come complete with a sheet of cigarette cards of the man from uncle

 

David McCallum - Uptight - Capitol (LP Track)

Dont be fooled by the artist on this as its actually HB Barnum, David Axelrod and probably most of the musicians that appeared as Earl Wright and his Orchestra for Thumb A Ride also on Capitol. Lets face it boys and girls Henry Jeromes version sounds like something you might push your supermarket trolley around to. This has got to be the instrumental version. It veritably rockets along and has a great honking sax break. No doubt this had the Man From Uncle airplane spinning in the studio. If so I guess that was the only contribution he made to this stormer. TRhe album by the way is called "Music, A Bit More Of Me" and was the follow up to "Music, A Part Of Me" which my mate Dennis bought off a list thinking that this was on it. Ho Hum.

Nice photos Steve!!  I've got the No.11 badge on the right and had the gun,too but gave it to a friend when I was having a clear out years ago.This enjoyable LP ,which also contains the much-sampled 'The Edge', is 'conducted' by David McCallum-and probably is; his father, David McCallum Senior was a famous Classical violinist and conductor,so he certainly knew a little about conducting and grew up with music

Now that’s an interesting backstory , nice one . 

I used to sit by the phone when I was a kid , thinking UNCLE would call , as it said you could be called up for active duty on 12 hours notice .

It was played at Yate as a cover up. It was 77/78 as I remember the car I had then. Not sure who was the DJ. I did a bit of stuff for Black Echoes and it was in the column. John Harvey (Kojak) was involved at that point.
