Given the prices achieved for Cecil Washington 45s on Manships  & Ebay, anybody any thoughts on what this might go for?

Absolutely incredible record as far as I’m concerned, could listen to it every day.

  • Are we going to pick a record every week of JM's auction and talk it up? It isn't as though this hasn't been up for sale recently.  Been two or three this year if memory, Manship auctioned one no

  • “BIYMG” is one of the great soul records.

It was always a 1.5-2K record (and I my opinion a very dubious press as per other releases, I have been doubted before and I may be wrong, but Jack's memory on this is vague, I was told years ago)

It isn't as though this hasn't been up for sale recently.  Been two or three this year if memory, Manship auctioned one not that long ago as well.  It won't command the two or three times its worth such as Cecil as its not a stomper.

I listened to it for the first time and it almost sent me to sleep. So a vinyl diazepam. Do they go for a lot of money.

Totally agree with you,it absolutley bores the tits off me. I much prefer crying clown as far as his slower stuff is concerned.

User comment from the respective Discogs entry:

This is right at the pinnacle of deep Soul music. State-of-the-art.

Bit overexcited in my opinion but yes I'd agree to the extent that it's a great deep soul track.

WOW - i like the New Yorkers on JM - i may just put a cheeky bid on for £500 see if i get lucky? - wish me luck! :)

I also prefer Crying Clown on Triple B records, and you get the same flip side as BIYMG...I Need A True Love...which for me is the best of the three tunes...

Great double sider and you can still pick a mint copy up for about £50

Sad thing is it will possibly end up with some one who has more fingers than other deep soul 45's, securing the record just because the artist is a northern icon and to wave it at his mates. The lyrical content of both 'BIYMG' and 'Crying clown' ( I happen to prefere the slow version that Ady put out) are just about as good as it gets, not to mention the drama created by that fantastic backing track. Im struggling to understand how any person claiming to be a soul fan is not captivated. Just imagine those two back to back on Miko.
