New sales moderation addition

In place for the foreseeable future

Sales posts with a distinct lack of solid info by new or obscure members will be removed and the seller will be asked to repost with more detailed info and to ensure their profile page matches their real world identity

eg location of seller, where the item will be shipped from, method of payment (no paypal friends and family will be acceptable), more  images, references and so on

this should not affect regular or longtime  sellers/members 

members are asked to assist the site by flagging such bare sales posts by new or obscure members so we are aware asp

Was it same seller I raised a suspicion about a few weeks ago?

 

Had a reply from him for a want I put up I smelled a rat and declined, the way his message came across raised my suspicions.

looks like he recently changed account email publically to  jackbennet.553@gmail.com

previously it was

ice_kid007@azet.sk  

it was up in a forum post from 2017 but he edited out of the post last friday

says his location is Belfast but that now seem a bit off given the system reports elsewhere

similar to the other two accounts , makes out to be an old uk soulie type

 

this time around it was an old account, logged into after a break, posted a sales 45, offered a want to someone via pm

leaving us with his old email ice_kid007@azet.sk  

 

A search on Google for the ice_kid email address brings up a few results - all related to the person posting on soul music blogs asking for digital files of the tracks being written about, and all from half a dozen years back or so.

What you see is the person, seemingly from Slovakia, using a number of aliases, and you can in some instances click on their name in the blog posts and find a bit more info.

A username like that should have set the alarms ringing straight away ... hard to believe a couple more bargain hunters got caught out again after such a short time ... !

not really as it may then affect genuine sales and may also affect other features on here

We do have measures in place to try and prevent such scams, and these measures are continually improved, however it makes sense not to make or discuss these measures in public

Posted a want....new member offered it for 1050gbp....f&f only, didn't offer any info as to where he was or any contacts in the soul world, wouldn't accept normal PayPal.  Didn't go for it in the end. He could be legit, sent me a picture of the 45.

It is this guy yes....sad to find out he was dodge....cant trust anyone these days...

There's a scammer on the Facebook Rare Soul Wants group who's stolen the identity of "Michael Thompkins" and has been offering rare expensive records for sale. (He replied to me about my want.) His PayPal address is kalorocawo@gmail.com and it's associated with the name "Radovan Gazo." I'm going to be reporting him to PayPal in hopes they'll take away his account. If anyone has been scammed by him, please DM me.
