when I started watching the very first episode, I thought WTF somebody's gonna say “Bada bing, bada boom,” and I'd be outaa here'. Pleasantly surprised, it was really enjoyable.

Just watched the 1st episode of season 2, looks promising..............

 

Binged watched the French crime series Sambre Anatomy of a Murder based on a true story about a serial rapist. My only downside being it says the series is meant to be a tribute to the victims and not factual. This led to  discussions between myself and Lou at various points as to whether this or that actually happened as some instances of police incompetence and indifference were astounding. One scene in particular led to lengthy talk on surely someone in the station would have questioned or had second thoughts, if you watch the series I'm pretty sure you will recognise this scene in particular. That said excellent acting, gripping story line well worth a watch.

I'm halfway through it & had pretty much the same thoughts - police incompetence etc. I reckon a bit of dramatic license makes for a more dramatic story-line - bit like some of the British press! Gripping series & well worth watching none the less. Have to say I do like to watch the French programmes - not only are they usually very good, they also help me to keep up with my French! 

Also just watched The Hunt for Raoul Moat (old series that was repeated very recently) Well worth another watch - it's easy to forget just how horrific it all was for those involved & also for the residents of the area.

Yes I get that, watching the last episode today  after which I will look up the case and hopefully get some perspective on truth and fiction. Gripping as you say. 

If you enjoy drug/gang type things then I can highly recommend Power Book IV: Force.

It's really good.

I'm struggling to get past the very cheesy/tongue in cheek beginning - switched over half way through Sylvester being in the cannabis shop when he arrives in Tulsa right at the start.

Just watched the first episode , a one hour pilot , of the new series "The Penguin".

Gotham based show but without the usual comic book style , thoroughly enjoyable start , and I had no clue as to the lead actor until I googled the cast ...

I’m going to watch The Batman again as The Penguin apparently carries on from where the film left off.  It does look good.

I nearly gave it a miss as the series "Gotham" got too silly towards the latter stages and I gave up on it.

I must have missed "The Batman" somewhere along the line so thanks for the nudge in the right direction , that's today's 'greyday' entertainment sorted ...

Yeah Gotham was good at first but it soon lost the plot altogether.

I've just watched the first 2 episodes of Monsters. The Lyle & Erik Menendez Story. on Netflix.

I kept thinking to myself surely this can't be true.

Did anyone watch "Till" on BBC2 on Sunday night? It's based on a true story exposing racism in 1950s Mississippi, when a 14 year old boy was murdered for paying a compliment to a white woman. Very sad story & well worth watching.

"Paris Has Fallen" , french made spin-off series extending the "Has Fallen" franchise..

I was unimpressed with the various movies in the line that I've tried (but failed to finish) but this one's very good.

I saw it first time round - saved it to watch again when I can steel myself to do it. As you say Mike - well worth a watch but for the wrong reasons.

I remember it well. We were so naive, funny now thinking about all those 'public service' top-tips, like taking your doors off to build a fall-out shelter and hiding behind your settee.

I've just watched Threads again - I'd forgotten just how harrowing it was to watch too. Definitely a must watch but as you say, for all the wrong reasons.

Just watched unbelievable true story on netflix well worth a viewing.

Storyville: Dogs of War documentary  about Dave Tomkins, a former mercenary who traded $500 million of weaponry, is very interesting spans his and others involvement in war with actual old footage on bbc 4

Another welcome return for us that just got off to a good start was 'Bad Sisters' on Apple tv

that's two weekly watches added to the routine, any others...?

Cheers for that , it's been so long since the first half of the series aired that I'm presently revisiting it before starting thenew episode.

As for Mr Costner's 'epic' western thing "Horizon : An American Saga" , I've tried it twice but I find it's like wading through treacle.

that's a shame to hear as I was hoping that it be along the lines of 1883 & 1923 which enjoyed and led us to watch Yellowstone

It's beautifully filmed and the story's promising , but you know what it's like when you doze off watching a film and wake up not knowing what you missed ... well with this I kept dozing off and when I woke up it was as if I was still at the point that my eyelids dropped ...  

Just started watching this gripping drama , going by episode 1 it's a winner.

I'm watching on the 'dodgy' streaming site that I watch everything on , I can't tell you the name though or Mike will have me bent over a desk again with his cane a-swishing ... 🤣

But a quick Google shows that it's on Hulu or Disney+ if that's any help.

For anyone who watched the previous three starting next week on Sky Atlantic fourth series of the Italian series My Brilliant Friend. After watching the previous three I was moved to read the books, l usually like to do it the other way around but watching the series actually gave me more a sense of the Naples the books were set in.

I'm 4 episodes in and really enjoying it much more than I thought I would. I'm fascinated by Colin Farrell's performance.

You don't 'need' to but it does help acquaint you with the characters and the back story which I found helpful.

It's the 2022 movie "The Batman" that precedes the series.

just finished it,  really enjoyed it as well, I'd say had more of a gangster theme rather than any DC super hero/villain vibe

The second series of the brilliant "Wolf Hall" is upon us , "The Mirror and the Light" , available for all on the BBC i-Player.

I've just settled down to binge the first series before starting part two.

Wolf Hall is certainly a quality series and we pay our license fee for this sort of stuff.
First episode of the second series did not disappoint.
Not sure if the BEEB will let you binge watch it on the iPlayer ?

She's never stopped me binging any of the great series that she has available thus far in the 13 years I've been using her.
