April 27, 20196 yr For me the 45 mix is stronger than the LP version. Possibly my favorite Dramatics song Cheers PaulĀ
April 27, 20196 yr TheĀ "New Dimension" LP on Capitol 1982 is my favourite Dramatics LP. I see it's also been reissued on Expansion CD. Here's the best 4 tracks IMO all with BPM shown [as played it so many times], just in case you have it and are thinking of working the tracks into a set.Ā https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fjVRJrz6-6IĀ I Don't Want To Lose Your Love [66.7] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hgWycYwEEBgĀ Treat me Right [78.3] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xf8Gy5UAgGcĀ I Believe In You [106.8] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ncUn2ot5dj8Ā My Kind Of Girl [107.5 Mostly]
April 29, 20196 yr Scrolled much of this thread and could not see mention of their inclusion into the film āDetroit ā Which used part of their early daysĀ as a story within the film, notably the Algiers Motel incident during TheĀ 1967 12th Street Riot.Ā Brilliant film and well worth watching if you havenāt seen itĀ yet.... April 29, 20196 yr Algiers Motel incident also covered in Stuart Cosgroves excellent book. Not seen the film yet Mal C will look out for itĀ š Cheers Paul
April 29, 20196 yr THE DRAMATICS!!!! One of my all time favorite vocal groups (the two others are The Chi-lites and The O'Jays; of course there are dozens of others - Tempts, Blue Notes, Miracles, Four Tops, Blue Magic,ā¦- but no one like these three I have spend so many time herding their music and buying their 45's, LP's and CD's). I was aged around 15 years-old when I purchased the vynil by Stax-VoltĀ VV.AA. titled "Takin' You There" on wich was included "In The Rain" (and some gems as "I've Been Lonely For So Long" by Frederik Knight or Carla Thomas' "Love Means"!). Little after I was a Dramatic's fan when I purchased The Dells Vs. The Dramatics album on Chess-Cadet (the fantastic mid-tempos "Don't Make Me Promises" and "Tune Up") and my all-time favorite Dramatic album, "Drama V" on ABC. IMHO, this album is the one you can play completely side A and side B one time and another without tired of. I also likes a lot the complete "Joy Ride" LP also on ABC with (album?) cuts like Stand Up and Move,⦠some tracks from "10 1/2"⦠I found the Stax "Whatcha See Is Whatcha Get" LP in a second hand store,⦠Firsty, the "Dramatic Way" album deceived me the electronic and synthesizer sound but there are 3 incredible mellow ballads ("You're The Best Ting In My Life", "loving Time" and "Share You Love With Me"⦠By the last years the only track I enjoy is "For Your Love", with a great vocal performance by LJ Reynolds who re-reunited with the group again in the "Mello Drama" CD. https://youtu.be/NFAcO4geSQA
