Northern Soul On Bbc (east)

Next Wednesday BBC 1 (East) programme Inside Out (7.30pm) are including an item on Northern. From the trailer it shows dancers at one of the Hertfordshire venues - not sure where?

Think the programme is only transmitted to viewers in the Anglia region

Hope someone can replay it as I'll be at the Norwich v QPR match!!

YES IT HAS BEEN CONFIRMED IT IS THE DOCUMENTARY THAT WAS FILMED AT THE SOUNDS OF SOUL IN HEMEL HEMPSTEAD IN JUNE.

NEXT SOUNDS OF SOUL NEXT SATURDAY 20TH SEPTEMBER.

If you have got sattelite I think you can watch or record it by looking for the local bbc regions in the index channel 981 0r 982

Cheers Mark, I'll be able watch it on the account that Northants is officially in the BBC Carrot crunching country and "Look Narrich" is my favourite news programme..... :thumbup:

A quick look at the website....... https://www.bbc.co.uk/insideout/east/index.shtml and it says that if you miss anything, you can catch up so looks like you won't miss it after all! smile.gif

I watched the advert earlier and there was Reg dancing his little socks off.

Sky Sat Ch 981 is the place to be at 19.30 today but what a Fing time aint it, just before the champions league footie. Northern soul fans aint into football are they so any time is ok. Yeah, right. At least those who have sky plus can record it, altho how long is the prog supposed to be?? If its 30 mins bound to miss the Utd first goal. Not that i care, being a Wolves fan and Champions league is 10+ years awayfor us in the future. Its just i hate TV of any kind being progammed against two things i'd like to watch at the same time!!

They have three stories in a 30 min programme so I would imagine there will be 10 m ins of N.S max....

Well, just finished watching it and I thought it was a really heart warming little film. Showed Reg being as passionate as he is, played some great tunes, the 'W' word was only mentioned once and the presenter was pretty fit too! Nice one. biggrin.gif

Me too..Mark....the presenter's squeal when Reg dropped to his knees...was great...also seeing the old clips of Wigan from the Omnibus Prog of 78 of which i can remember first time around whistling.gif ... was great.....Delxxxx

I thought Reg was going to say, 'well get them shoes off for a start!' Never seen Chris look so serious, he usually has a huge grin on his face...... I like the tune they played when Reg was walking past the shops, never heard that one before. Yep, SOS should be packed on Saturday! :thumbup:

Reg we've not met but I've heard of you- just watched the item on Inside Out- you were absolutely brilliant- you came across as someone really passionate and genuine about the music, and the message was very well balanced. I liked the bit about 'Northern' soul being just one of many styles of music esconced by the term 'soul'. The clip was well put together which helped, but you just came across so well on camera. You are a good dancer and the scooter shots were great!

I had no idea about the challenges you faced writing the book, or about this work you've been doing in schools encouraging kids who face adversity in learning- what a great result from what you have achieved already.

An added bonus is that 1000's of soul fans will also have tuned in to the previous item about nature reserves as well, great publicity for rare sea birds and saltmarsh habitats. :thumbup:

Seriously Reg, blinding stuff, I will def. be buying your book now. Although, it was obviously NOT primarily a plug for the book!

Actually, that was one of the best things about the item, it wasn't a plug for Reg's book, or SOS, it was a "plug" about a man's love for his music and the difficulties of life and how to overcome them, with a big smile on your face. Well done to the BBC for getting it right.

It's about time white, English, middle aged, working class bald blokes had some good press for once! :D

Oh and Michele.....I really look forward to the day when the whole of the Fens reverts back to it's former state!! :thumbup:

Loved the film last night & nice to see one of my oldest mates on the telly!! So pleased for Reg, little bit of success & recognition for one of the nicest blokes on the Soul scene. Hope the book sells out for you matey!!

Funny thing is my ex mother in law is on tv tonight aswell, being taken away in an ambulance!!

Just watched it on i-player , one of the best soul-related things i've watched. Reg came across very well and the reporter really seemed to be enjoying it as much as Reg.
