Well nobody will have heard it anyway. As it is completely silent.

  • BOTH SIDES THE SAME - LABEL TOO.

I found this in a Junk Shop Many, Many Years ago. (1970's if I remember correctly)

I believe that it was used in Juke Boxes for anyone to buy exactly what it says on the label.

THREE MINUTES SILENCE

It was apparently an option for use on a Juke Box where someone could purchase a play or two.

Makes sense in a noisy Pub I suppose. :) as when this is playing the customer gets exactly that, but at a cost.

The reason I have some doubt about this is that it doesn't have a large center, as found on Ex Juke Box records.

Anyone know any different, can't think of any other reason for this strange record.

SORRY TO BLOW ME OWN TRUMPET MATE. I GOT IT A ORIGINAL U S A DEMO COPY [ only jokin] .BUT WOULD IMAGINE IT IT WOULD COME AS WELCOME RESPITE FOR 3 MINUTES WITH MOST OF THE SHITE THAT'S ON A LOT OF JUKE -BOXES. AM I RIGHT IN SAYING THE RECORD IN QUESTION WAS RECORDRD BY ART DEMAIN. BE GOOD, IF YA CAN'T BE LUCK.

Well I have tried searching the Internet to find out.

The Juke Box Story I am sure that I have read somewhere.

It must have a use or why make it in the first place.

The Juke Box story appears plausible.

Former member of the Velvet Underground John Cage did a track on one of his early solo albumn that consisted of a number of minutes of total silence, cant think what the title was though :)

Prefer the 12" version Roger called Six Minutes Silence!

Got a wicked remix on the B side as well :)

Its sounds more reggae to me, your in the wrong section.

Was it The caretaker in Please Sir the film that had an LP of silence doh! what's his name Clive something.

Deryck Guyler - also played a pretty mean washboard.

Found reference to that track here >>> JOHN CAGE <<<

I think it was the 'former member of the Velvet Underground' reference that Boba was referring to - not '4' 33"' :)

Hi Roger,NSM jukeboxes, which were common in pubs in the 70's play records records with both small and large centres. :) Give me a minute while I get my anorak

Thanks for the Information BOB.

Could be it's Intended use then a Jukebox

It's been one of those mystery records picked up along the way, nothing to do with Soul Music I know.

Thanks to all replies. Only pence from a Junk Shop, bit of a fun thing but possibly played more than you would Imagine.

Just for a bit of Peace & Quiet in an otherwise noisy environment. :P

I remember watching something on the telly about a bloke making a silent record sometime in the early 70's, claimed it was an artistic statement, load of b*llocks more like.

:(

I'll tell you what Steve, when I was a Apprentice Fitter at the Local Plant Railway Works in Doncaster.

They tried every trick in the book. We were sent looking all kinds of things. Happy Days, harmless fun.

One I remember was go get the Long Weight from the Stores.

Of course they were in on it, "I'll go get it for you son"

Turns out to be a Long Wait. (Also known as The Long Stand)
