The aliens have landed, you've been taken to his leader, and he says, "What is Northern Soul"?

Which one disc would you play that IYO best decribes Northern Soul?

Tough I know. I'd play You Don't Love Me by the Epitome of Sound, not my fave by a long way, but it just sums Northern up for me.

Looking at ET's gaunt face and large eyes I'd say he's been on the drugs already...as for the record....Hmmm...Mello Souls, Diane Lewis, Timmie Williams.......

Wigan joker;casino classic.yellow plastic if you played anything els you would be running the risk of them gettin hooked, and buying everything of manships list, watch the prices go skywards then,oh dont forget the weekender there doing, and all the infighting that go`s with the terrotry.

what about the miracles "happy landing"

or seriously case of tyme "manifesto"

Seven Souls - I still Love You (OKEH)

Not one of my all time faves - but it's still quintessential northern IMHO.

Hammy

They're coming to Take You Away (b side of Rose Brooks Im Moaning, played this once at end of Allanton, after last record, sure somebody tried to dance, which was pretty unusual as noone did for the spot proper :lol: )

Serious answer Gloria Jones - Come Go With Me, proper Northern Soul!

Cheers

Sounds like the joke...Man asking dj for something Northern..The dj gives him a flat cap and a pie..

What sums up northern for me is Janines top tune.." Out on the floor"..Think that was the first tune i and many others heard the term northern soul used when taliking about a record...

Northern soul..Not Norman soul like that Cockney said  ..I could ask James Trouble.."what really got you into disco :lol:

"Look into my heart"................Is that not a fantastic tune indeed..:lol:
