  1. Aside from the football being played, do you think the incessant Drum Banging in some games which is really loud and over powering some times particularly when the drummer is down close to pitch side where the TV Sound pick up Mics are situated, are drowning out \ competing with match commentary getting on your nerves to the extent like me muted the sound or worse still i abandoned the game altogether during some games. This is not the case with every game & i am not a kill joy by the way as the drum has become a part of the game to rally round the crowd and players but sitting at home trying to enjoy the game on TV some times it it is just a bit too much, for me this only seems to have come to the fore during this tournament and not having the desired effect with the Fans & players so far.
  2. Have too agree with comments so far, the play acting, going down when hardly (touched, if at all) and games that were boring Stop Start, stop start affairs, Walking football would be far more enjoyable, other than the Odd Game a Bore Fest.
  3. Defo Played out by myself as a New release. Perfect Shuffling/stomping Dance beat for the Cleethorpes Pier & Winter Gardens Attendees & feel sure The Blackpool Mecca Amongst others played it as well. RIP Lalo Schifrin
  4. I seem to remember reading some where that Berry Gordy wasn't best pleased on his artists "Moon Lighting" for other Labels Artists..... not just singers but musicians as well, Any one else confirm this ?
  5. My gripe back then was like a lot of other Collectors & DJs (remember we had no Internet back then ) was not just Rare 45s being booted as fast as we could play them but very good look-a-like boots sold as Originals even to the extent that they were deliberately lightly Scuffed and marked to appear Authentic, happened to me quite often until i was able to compare with a real Original and tried to be a bit more savvy before parting with my cash but we could only do so much at that time.
  6. Thank you for the Music Sly ' Loved Spinning M'Lady ' You left us some fabulous Music ...Thank You... Condolences to Your family and Close Friends for their Loss. RIP Sly Stone
  7. This was big for me right from the get go Bought as new release when i Heard on Pirate Radio and First aired at my soul Nite at the Friendship Inn Keadby (Village near Scunthorpe) great memories.
  8. I Had Couple of Very expensive records ruined by Back Cueing in the past at venues i'd DJ'd at (Tough Girl & Love Slipped through my fingers) so after that experience i Stoped back cueing all together. Placing the Stylus at the beginning of a record then have a listen to hear how long it is before the sound kicks in and with a bit of practise it becomes a dodle and press the play button couple of seconds before you end your introducing it, works for me. Other Nightmares for me is turning up at a venue to DJ at and finding COINS or other heavy stuff stuck on top of the head shell, when i asked the promoter why that was i was told, Old styluses mate, so it stops the record from Jumping. Record box Box Lid Closed and headed for the exit. I have actually come across a DJ to two who carried a couple of Cartridges & his own Mic & Headphones to Venues. 😉 Commitment or What ?
  9. What a Sad Time This Is as i have Very Fond Memories of the Tunes i have played in my sets by John. One of the All Time Great Voices we have been Privileged to Enjoy. Condolences, Peace And Love, To All His Family And Very Close Friends.
  10. One person i remember very well who Loved The Mic was BUB, you Just new that Arthur And the Coalminers were going to get a mention, and no that was not a cover up 😃, many of our older Soulies on here will have many a fond memory or story about him and yes, he always found the time to tell you what he was playing and to get on that ******* dance floor.
  11. All the previous comments speak for themselves and he was just that, everything you would want for in a True Friend and the rest.......... A very sad day and a great lose to the music Scene. My Condolences to his Family & Close friends at this time. Now At Peace. Ted, You truly Are a Legend to so many people.
  12. Lost For Words at this point trying to take it all in, so many Heroes (musically) and so many Friends (Socially) that we have amassed over the years on this wonderful Musical Ride of ours and here we are again having to come to the terms of another *Much loved One Lost* So, So Sad. * RIP Mary Ann Sexton * Condolences To All Your Family and Close Friends. *Thank You For The Music With Which You Inspired Us All*

  15. 10 Days down the line and still can't get my head round this Sad Loss of Angie Stone (and all of the other loses this year has thrown at us) Such a Talent & A Sweet Sweet Lady. I Was Lucky to be DJ'ing in my Home Town of Scunthorpe Last Nite (Sat 8th) and Opened My set with "I Wish I Didn't Miss You" The Remix, asking the Crowd to join me in Paying Our very own Respect to the Lady in the only Way That As Soul Fans we could, With their Feet On The Dance Floor, they did not disappoint, followed by a round of applause (not for me) but for Angie 🥰
  16. Yea, but someone told me it was coming from your Microwave Oven 🤣
  17. Happy Holiday Everyone *Hope it's a Cracker* As always, Stay Safe, have Fun, and and be kind to one another 🥰
  18. Just for the Record (yes i will take that as a pun Ha Ha) 😊 It was far better than lot of Pop Drivel that was played on the Scene over the years and judging by that from comments on the thread so far, Dave Thorley Played it on the Dodgy Acetate,Chalky and myself were playing it off the LP and like me must have had many people up to the Turntables to see what was being played, Rob5airborne was Chasing it to find out it's identity and been Bugging him for over 30 years Rated it as a 'Absolutely Blinding Track' Blackpoolsoul has been trying to gleam some information on Allan Scott and seems there is just nothing out there about him, but thanks for all your efforts 😃 **So yes, for a 'Quality Pop Record' it certainly got the Juices Flowing Back Then & Now It Would Seem**
  19. Yep Benji that is true, Its what ever rocks our boats as it is with all forms of music, Thanks for all the input , been fun 😃 Rick
  20. Too True, great shame as it would have made a welcome official 7" release but hey! was not to be, but loads of other singers felt differently and did their version/take on it. But for me Allans is the best version for me.

  23. Wouldn't dream of it Roburt as i think that sounds like it is as close as we are going to get on an answer to my question, so thank you so much for that, most helpful Rick
  24. Thanks all you guys for your help and contributions. would still like to know why a studio would make metal tin plate discs that you can actually play rather than say, acetates etc, for what purpose? but i think only the people that made them would have the answer to that one 😕
  25. Just Re Played all the discs mentioned and sound quality is good, all very early 60s soul, all but one are down beat and nothing great bar the Phil - Wood 093 (Pi Pi 859) Which is a not a too bad up- tempo Gospel type dancer with male vocal with "I DON'T KNOW" sang a lot with Female singers interjecting ,Some body help me - Sweet Jesus, and the Devil gets a mention or two The record starts with twanging lead guitar and male singer singing (Not counting in) ONE - TWO- THREE - FOUR over the guitar with a couple of seconds between each number sang before getting into the I Don't Know etc Routine, i'm trying to be helpful here as not techi minded enough to put a sound bite up but somebody into Gospel might recognise it as it best of the bunch, So still curious about why the discs are cut on this silver plate so that they can be played ? I did find one record on Discogs On Select O - Hit Label By The Right Combination (s-o -h 023) A) Everything i do B) How can your heart be free (when your love belongs to me Mastered at Master Craft Pressed by Plastic Products B side better side of the two but not great.
