  1. Killer funk on the flip Charlie. Jordi
  2. I agree totally with this John. An 'Alternative' room allows the DJ to diversify as he or she wants. You still need to have DJ's that know how to play a diverse range of music and blend and flow well otherwise it would be a complete ecclectic mish mash. I always enjoyed people like Gavin Page as he knew how to do it, without anyone being able to predict what he was going to play next. Done well, mixing the genres for me makes for my favorite nights out. I get bored of one genre continually, whether that's Northern, 60's rare, crossover, steppers, funk, 70's dancers, jazzy rare grooves or modern/contemporary plodders, but when they're mixed up well with good imaginative underplayed record choices then I'll have a great time. And don't get me started with the Northern soulie's unimaginative definition of Modern and flogging average / dull tunes to death for ever such as Driza bone and Kenny Thomas etc, etc, zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
  3. Crossover and Modern have always been uneasy bed fellows in my opinion and I don't know why they were ever lumped together. The only common ground is that you get some mid tempo 70's soul played at some modern do's and at some crossover do's, but apart from that, there are many more differences than similarities. Jordi
  4. Steve, I wouldn't like to take credit for that, I think the first edition was a 'test the water' release. I got a copy of it sent to me when I bought a copy of 'Gold' from him off Ebay. He asked me for my thoughts on the track, so I told him what a great record 'Imposing' was but how terrible the production on the 45 was. I was gobsmacked when I got a letter from him a couple of months later thanking me for my comments, with a few copies of the 'all new, crystal clear sounding' new version. PS we'll see you at about 7.30pm tomorrow...get the kettle on! Jordi
  5. Bob, 'I am Imposing' never came out back in the day like 'Gold' did. It was something that Cole recorded with the band but never put out. The first release of it about 6 years or so ago was on the blue label but it was a cronically bad mastered record, terrible muffled sound quality. I recieved a copy from I think Elijah's son and I told him what I thought of it. They then re mastered the studio tapes and got someone who knew what they were doing to produce the fantastic sounding version that we have now. I threw my 'original' away as it was so shit. Elijah's son seemed a really nice guy, he sent me a letter appreciating my comments and then sent me a couple of copies of the newly mastered version when it was done. Jordi
  6. Anyone?.....tucked away in their boxes?......under the bed.......in the attic?
  7. Anyone got one of these please. PM thanks. Cheers...Jordi
  8. Bleedin' hell, I let my Moonville copy go for about £70. I'm sure it's about the same price as the Kapp version, it's never a £300 tune surely. Jordi
  9. Greg Heilig is a cracking tune!! Jordi
  10. This should do the trick. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n_qctt9PjTE Jordi
  11. At least we know this is an original. i like this better than 'Gold' actually, the production quality is amazing. He may be batshit mental but Elijah knew what he was doing when he produced and engineered this. I don't know why he is trying to sell it at this price when it was about $25 before. Jordi
  12. Don't forget, as John Manship often says, sometimes he puts things up for auction because if it was on set sale his phone would be ringing all day. They're not his records, he's just trying to get the best possible price for his sellers (and obviously his commission), also hence his Marks and Spencers style seductive descriptions. Jordi

Wouldn't be a Curtis Liggins would it.
  14. Kellee Patterson - 'I'm gonna love you just a little more' on UK Mint has got to be rareish? (it's the full length version that is only on the US promo flip as well). Jordi
  15. Earcave records had it for sale 6 months or so ago for £200 or thereabouts I think. I was gutted as it always was a tune I wanted but I was skint. Jordi
  16. I always thought / believed that Wondering was supposed to be on a Trojan 45, not Action. As I said though, I've searched for a long time and never come across it. Jordi
  17. I always heard there was a UK press with Wondering on, but I've looked for years and never found it, apart from on the LP 'In Miami' or the US Konduko 45. Jordi
  18. I'm not sure if the Chosen Few on Konduko were the same as the Polydor group. There seem to have been a lot of groups called the Chosen Few. The Konduko Jamaican group did have records out on UK Trojan, The Chosen Few In Miami LP for example. Jordi
  19. They're the Topics aren't they? Jordi
  20. Totally agree, and if they've got any change left they could buy the utterly fantastic Sag War Fare 45. Jordi
  21. It should be £30 - £40, unless it's gone up with some demand on it? Jordi
  22. Class tune Pete. Shouldn't be hard to pick up. Jordi
  23. Yep, I'm waiting for that to come out (with '1960 what' on the flip!) Jordi
  24. If only I had some money Karl... Jordi
