  1. The entire Carla Whitney album, love it and perfect for a relaxing Sunday while my roast lamb cooks !
  2. Managed to pick up a copy of the Dana Valery Lp sealed for 10 euros for a mate last month ! Why dont these punters just use " search " on Google !!
  3. I see another copy has turned up on evil bay with a start price of $999.99 ! Be interesting to see how much this one goes for ?
  4. Always loved it as a rare oldie from the casino, but subsequently due to it's rarity, seldom played out nowadays ! Seem to recall an autographed copy on evil bay last year accompanied by autographs and press release photos to promote the release at the time, nice tidy bundle, but our American friends are now found in a corner nowadays clutching a copy of Manship's latest pricing guide and it was'nt cheap by any means and that was before bidding began !!
  5. Records and Relics, five minutes walk from the Winter Gardens in Caunce Street I use to pop in when I went to the weekender, plenty of records, soul, northern and memorabilia The local soul nights are advertised there also Don't forget your sun cream !
  6. Always thought it was about 40 quid, HOWEVER, I don't know if it's been reactivated and picking up plays again to increase it's demand as I saw it recently on a well known site for 100 !
  7. My previous postman was a top bloke, if nobody was in he would just leave them in my blue recycle bin to save me the hassle of trailing down town to the post office. Cue last summer holidays and being abroad, he left a few records in the bin as usual........ What I was'nt counting on was my new neighbours doing the neighbourly thing and putting my blue bin out for collection !!!!!!! I had to fight back the tears upon my return and thank them for it!!!!!!!!!!!!
  8. Couldn't agree more My mates big brother posted him the the video up to Scotland as soon as it came out, we bunked off school that afternoon to watch and the rest as they say is history, as I watched that video taking in every step, turn and spin in that dance competition, I knew then and there that I wanted to be part of this scene in its entirety.................... , The mid eighties on the soul scene was a very unfashionable and underground place to be, and we loved it, no more baggy trousers and vest brigade with cries of " Right on brother and keep the faith " , Jesus wept!!! The amount of people I met as my job took me nationally who said, " I went to Wigan " was ridiculous! These weren't soul fans or even music fans but clubbers at the time who followed the crowd and went to where it was fashionable to go, they had nothing in common with me. and how I felt. I hated the fact that the Casino had attracted them in the first place. I'm glad Peterborough, Stafford, Morecambe, Leighton Buzzard, Loughborough, Blackburn, not to mention Allanton , and the rest of them did'nt get a mention, my memories of these venues that brought me through the eighties and early nineties are safely preserved. As previously stated the documentary was nothing more than a potted history of the scene with the focus firmly on the 70's. I enjoyed it.
  9. Top bloke Arnie J ! CD arrived today, many thanks ;-)
  10. Interesting you should say that about a Maltese Market !!!!! The reason being that Malta was still a HM Forces posting up until 1979 , I know a couple of my mates big brothers were out there mid 70's and all had been regulars at the Casino. There was quite a few service personnel out there at the time along with their partners, some of whom they'd met and married on the scene. They even had a few soul nights at the various messes and local bars in the area. From speaking to them in later years it became apparent that what with New postings, marriage break up, etc.... a lot of records were dumped at the local markets rather than boxed up and moved on.... I have had a couple of albums over the years from there marked with the HM Forces radio station stamp, my last being the Stateside Lp " An Album Full Of Soul "
