After Wigan?
Talk to Keb Darge, I spent a very amusing night listening to his stories of when they kicked off Stafford and the Casino oldies / pop crowds turned up initially and were asking for the same old dross, I think he played one record five times in a row and then snapped it in half chucking it over his shoulder saying - " Right enough of that old stuff, let't try some new stuff " !!!!! The rest as they say is history........

Where Do Dealers Get Records From?
Sold the first part of my 45's collection to JM in 2000 when my first kid came along and was very pleased with the deal, loads of original oldies that I had picked up in 83 / 84. , dirt cheap from my mates older brothers in tip top condition after the casino closed and they decided to Jack it all in and the constant pressure from their wife's to get rid of those bloody old records in the garage !!!! Second part of my 45's ( Stafford / Leicester / Morecambe / Blackburn / Shotts sounds onwards) to another known seller who again came up trumps. , 60 % - 40 % , when my second kid came along in 2002 and bought a lovely New people carrier, My experiences have been nothing but positive with UK dealers, long before you could do it yourself with eBay or the hassle of lists / fairs. Yes I know of horror stories where people themselves have been unsure whether they have owned an original or not and sold it for peanuts after being convinced it was a second issue, but these have been a lot rarer nowadays as people with thanks to this site and others can research themselves. Still got 500 + albums. / 12 " but not selling yet till the kids hit university !!!!!!

John Manship Auction Results 17 - 9 - 2014
As an album only collector nowadays I was glad to see Freddie Hughes go for that sum , a phenomenal album for it's time in both a series of quality of songs and it's production, it's worth every penny and so outshadows a lot of other. " one track " albums around that go for a lot more money , for once I can't complain or criticize, a first !!

Fine, Fine, Fine- Judy Hughes - Vault On Ebay
Always loved it as a rare oldie from the casino, but subsequently due to it's rarity, seldom played out nowadays ! Seem to recall an autographed copy on evil bay last year accompanied by autographs and press release photos to promote the release at the time, nice tidy bundle, but our American friends are now found in a corner nowadays clutching a copy of Manship's latest pricing guide and it was'nt cheap by any means and that was before bidding began !!

Always thought it was about 40 quid, HOWEVER, I don't know if it's been reactivated and picking up plays again to increase it's demand as I saw it recently on a well known site for 100 !

Royal Mail, Great Work Boys
My previous postman was a top bloke, if nobody was in he would just leave them in my blue recycle bin to save me the hassle of trailing down town to the post office. Cue last summer holidays and being abroad, he left a few records in the bin as usual........ What I was'nt counting on was my new neighbours doing the neighbourly thing and putting my blue bin out for collection !!!!!!! I had to fight back the tears upon my return and thank them for it!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tonite - Northern Soul Bbc Living For The Weekend
Couldn't agree more My mates big brother posted him the the video up to Scotland as soon as it came out, we bunked off school that afternoon to watch and the rest as they say is history, as I watched that video taking in every step, turn and spin in that dance competition, I knew then and there that I wanted to be part of this scene in its entirety.................... , The mid eighties on the soul scene was a very unfashionable and underground place to be, and we loved it, no more baggy trousers and vest brigade with cries of " Right on brother and keep the faith " , Jesus wept!!! The amount of people I met as my job took me nationally who said, " I went to Wigan " was ridiculous! These weren't soul fans or even music fans but clubbers at the time who followed the crowd and went to where it was fashionable to go, they had nothing in common with me. and how I felt. I hated the fact that the Casino had attracted them in the first place. I'm glad Peterborough, Stafford, Morecambe, Leighton Buzzard, Loughborough, Blackburn, not to mention Allanton , and the rest of them did'nt get a mention, my memories of these venues that brought me through the eighties and early nineties are safely preserved. As previously stated the documentary was nothing more than a potted history of the scene with the focus firmly on the 70's. I enjoyed it.
