  1. In defence of Suzy's Serenade it made more sense as a dancer in the early days of the scene 'cos the style of dancing was slightly different back then. Sexy Sugar Plum also made sense because there was a dance (that I could never master) that folks used to do to that type of record. Tony
  2. Shadows and Reflections was also done in the UK by the great 60s band the Action. Its excellent by them. The Lonely Crowde is however dog rare. Worst records Lenny Gamble c/u Kiss my love good bye The aeroplane song......
  3. dunno about using powdered french talc, round about that time lots of us were using a solid form of french blue.
  4. "So right for today's scene" - used to be sold as a ballad

not sure if anyone will get this, its a bit tricky Out on the floor tonight I'm really movin'
  9. So its a shit record and the seller must be from another planet, but I'm sure there weren't that many of us who rushed off the floor at Casino complaining about it. I'm afraid our musical memeories sometimes get clouded in the light of how we feel about those Wigan pop records now. I do seem to remember the floor was still packed for Gary Lewis, Keith, Brian Hyland, Nosmo King, Lorraine Silver and the rest, as much as it was for all the "proper" northern sounds that were played. Tony
  10. Don't think I'm being cynical, Gavin, but surely no dealer is going to put anything halfway decent in a soul pack these days.
  11. Sotherbys would not approve of this practice. A mate told me that he was bidding on a tune on the biggest northern auction site, he was bidding against another buyer who wanted the same record and as the auction reached the final minute the finishing time kept being extended by a minute, so the price kept increasing. Another dirty trick to be aware of ?!!
  12. I'll do anything for you Al Johnson on Marina. Bloody marvellous!!! and usually only £6 ish
  13. Agree with you about Ivor's do, great music, atmosphere etc, although during one dj's spot it threatened to turn into a bit of a singalonganorthern.

  17. Couldn't agree more, Russ Tony
  18. Jerry I'm sure I would have taken legal action if someone had advertised me to dj without actually asking me (hoho) and I've lost my diary for 1976 (it would have made good reading tho), so it must have taken place. Although on the other hand I was a bit out of it sometimes (can't think why though). Agree with you about the lost Yate tapes, they were a lorra fun although I didn't I was such a cockney in those days! Tony Ellis

I love the Grapevine 2000 stuff, but have resisted buying too many as I reckon £10 for these reissues is a bit over the top. What do you people think?
