Anybody actually seen it on Veep?- Dont You Just Hate It
I used to hate John Anderson saying to me "No sorry, that ones gone" I hate people who trawl around a small box of highly valuable records with 'offers' penciled on the cover without the slightest intention of ever selling them! I hate people who end auctions early to keep the same few 'big spenders' happy I hate dealers who auction 'set sale' items because it happens to be 'in' this month I hate people who list records they don't have in order to try to get you ring, feel down because they've gone and then feel obliged to buy other stuff you don't really want. You know that they've not got them as they are always 'set sale' and 70% of the going price! I hate people who put out list and put in bold type anything that's £200 or more - I can read I hate people who know that they do buy expensive records, but get suspicous when you only ask about the one at £10 (that's only actually worth £5) and suddenly decide they can't find it! I hate people who charge you £2.50 p&p to send a £5 record, and then the record arrives swathed in bog paper and a 65p stamp I hate it when you recieve a record that is cracked, but you know it always was because it's that well packed you could run a tank over it and not cause a crack like it- Top Of The World
Seem to remember Richard (or Pat) had been playing a white test press of James Walsh as "Gypsy" "Cos Its You girl" for some time (no other info on label) and we were able to tell him the proper artist detail.- Manship Auction

I'm surprised he still has copies. I brought back 6-8 copies from Chicago in 1988 which went to JM. I wonder how many there are actually in circulation, I bet it's a lot rarer than people think!- Fluffs Forgotten Oldie Of The Week

- Can Cd's Ever Be As Rare As Vinyl In The Soulworld?
I'm sure somebody recently put a link up on here to an ebay sale of a CD with a starting price of $3000! There a several CD's from the early to mid 80's fetch a high price tag because there were not many made - very few CD players around and people rich enough to buy them - not enough CDs available of the popular vinyl = catch 22 situation. I don't think you even play them in a video disk player, if you happened to have one. There's an interview with Berry Gordy where he says one of his marketing ideas was to knock singles out at a low price so that if someone had a spare $ they would buy a record rather than buy a sandwich. They would be seen as 'disposable' and hence a high turn over from being able to buy the latest release and high profit for BG! IF you wanted something to keep long term you were encouraged to buy LP's and many LP's were re-recorded in the early to mid sixties (like Irma Thomas, often from scratch) to exploit the marketing of the new stereo format.- Invitations On Mgm
Anyone else admit to buying it for the other side - you're like a mystery? Must have had at least 10 years before 'discovering' the other side!- New Yorkers
