  1. This is on the tip of my tongue, but I can't quite remember. I'll probably do a face palm when somebody tells me, because it's well known. What is the tune used in the ads for the Mrs Biggs tv series on ITV?
  2. I thought it was quite good fun. Not to be taken seriously and far better than other tv coverage such as Paul O'Grady. I thought Martin Shaw's accent was a bit strange though
  3. I thought it was quite entertaining for Friday night tv. Yes, there were some inaccuracies and daft comments but I was a teenager in the mid - late 80s when a lot of the programme was based so it resonated with me. Steve "Silk" Hurley, crap videos, Marshall Jefferson (he's a scream!) and Inner City (Big Fun is still brilliant!).
  4. His influence was massive and will be very long lasting. RIP Carl!
  5. Dave Thorley Set One Stafford Modern Paul Simpson Connection - Use Me Lose Me - Rams Horn I love this song! Never heard it played out. I've only just discovered this thread and it will keep me busy for some time. Chalky, your recent Mixcloud uploads don't seem to be downloadable. Is that right?
  6. Not many embarrassing ones revealed yet. Even Mud got played during the Olympic opening ceremony! I still like Beggin' - Frankie Valli & 4 Seasons. It's not too cheesy, is it?
  7. I've got a CD single. It's by Dee Heron btw.
  8. I like Joi Caldwell. Agree about Mr. Day. It's a nothing tune.
  9. Records I've never liked are: Frankie & The Classicals (or Laura Greene or any other version) Candy & The Kisses - Out On The Streets DJ Genesis - Tribute To Betty (see Cunnie's Bob Sinclair's post!) Wynder K. Frogg ( I heard Shakin' Stevens version first) Joey Deleronzo I love The Parliaments though as per Paul T-P and Chalky. Also Big Joe Turner and Tony Middleton (TTEOTE) One record I used to hate but now really love is Roy Hamilton's "The Panic Is On"
  10. How about a 7" of "Tears" Ian? Is that supposed to be hard?
  11. (SOS) Stop Her On Sight - Edwin Starr
  12. Agreed but the original article mentions two of these and many other non NS DJ's.
  13. Daved replied to a post in a topic in All About the SOUL
Aretha Franklin but sadly I don't think that's going to happen. And Otis Redding.
  14. I wondered that too Bob
  15. Yes, it's very good.
  16. It's the same with the small minority of OVO brigade who very voicelessly try to shout everyone else down who doesn't agree with them in 2012. Btw, I like quite a lot of tunes in this thread and personally think it's a good step forward.
  17. Eddie Kendricks has got be one of the best, hasn't he? David Peaston too - but not very prolific.
  18. Ok. Some CD comps are better than DJ sets
  19. What's playing CD's got to do with being competent on the mic? The two are completely unrelated.
  20. Good song. I bought the LP on Ebay for 50p
  21. It depends how pissed they are
  22. It depends what you call the modern scene. There are so many different factions from the 70s/crossover type of dos to recent releases and even soulful house dos. Either way it's not very big. Having said that, there are plenty of other dos around the country that play similar music but the punters and dj's are totally different and maybe are not even aware of a modern scene. You've only got to go and see a live act like Anthony Hamilton to realise this.
  23. A classic: Something more recent: [media=]
