An All Time Low?
Shane, just my thoughts & opinions on your first post. 1. Doesn't bother me about the cafe. Just another cafe/tearoom named after some local landmark/character. I think what is sad about it is holding a do in a shopping arcade, if it's such a great idea why hasn't anyone tried before? Think it's just a marketing gimmick from the owners/management of the arcade. 2. Have to agree about The Drifters. How many soul sourcers have gone to see them in the past year or so? I wouldn't pay to go and see them, think it would be more Sitting In The Back Row, Under The Boardwalk than Baby What I Mean and You Got To Pay Your Dues. 3. I can see people paying money to meet/see Dean Parrish, but I'm not one of them. The rest of it (photos of DJ's, pizza & salad, etc.,) doesn't do anything for me. 4. I can't see what market he's aiming for. Tracks are not suited for mainstream success plus title I think is enough to put people off. Think about all the times you've tried to explain what northern soul is to people over the years. Then to have all your friends & work colleagues look at you quizzically. Last comment about the play (Once Upon A Time In Wigan). I went to see this at the Greenwich Theatre. I have never even been to Wigan let alone the casino (too young ), but I found the play to be very entertaining and an enjoyable evening out. The 2 actors & 2 actresses were excellent. Also the story wasn't just about the casino, I felt that was just the backdrop (excuse the pun) to the story of four different people and their relationships with each other and their outlook on the future. Sad Times? Are You Justin Collins in disguise or are you more Alan Carr?

Is this thread meant to be, the most paid for a boot knowing it's a boot or the most paid not knowing it's a boot?

Anyone Seen This?
Reading these posts and listening to it on You Tube, my opinion is that most peoples problems are with the backing tracks. Well my main problem is. The music sounds shite, not the artists voices necessarily. As one of my old school reports once said "could do better". I'm actually surprised he didn't have his other X Factor mate on there.

Soul Source - Begining Of The End
Upon reading topic title, I almost kacked myself. I wished I'd joined soul-source years before I did, thanks to Mike and his site I've met quite a few people that I can share a drink and a chat with now at events. Mind you in some cases that isn't always a good thing. Anyway thanks for the site Mike, and lets not forget all those moderators that assist in the forum as well.

Carla Record Label
I've got Ooh Baby on the maroon label, I'm sure it's a west coast press. Or at least that what it said on the card cover when I bought it. But if you read the topic John May mentions the maroon releases as well, pretty sure they are all genuine anyway.

Denbo, I asked a similar question last year. If you click >>here<< you'll find the topic on it, hope it's some help to you.

Northern Soul Scene Is A Racist Hotbed
I'm sure Dave Rimmer commented on this on another thread and it was dismissed as total crap. As the BBC are so honest an truthfull I'm sure they would never broadcast something that was untrue. In fact as we speak they are arranging a phone in competition to win the Soul Brittania dvd collection, just ring 0898 RIP OFF.

Soul Source
But then again the downside is meeting people like Moldie. How many of the guests do you think are people who have had their membership closed?

Charmaine - Soundclip Wanted
Thanks for soundclip, only just got in from work first chance of listening to it. Must admit not the normal sort of thing I'd buy, but you got to take a chance sometimes I suppose.

Jesse Fisher, you're Not Loving A Beginner
If I had £60 I would be contacting Dr Pickles right now. Apologies to Arnie J, but alls fair in the pursuit of buying records. Do you not think it may have been kinder to send Arnie a PM?

Charmaine - Soundclip Wanted
I just bought a record blind on Ebay, Charmaine - Young Girl - Serock, I saw the credits showing D Hamilton and M Hanks amongst others thought it would be worth a punt (especially at just £15 inc post). I tried to get a soundclip on the net but couldn't find one, before buying it. Even John Manships site didn't have a clip, although he described it like this: Mike Hanks production, early Mah's girl group Detroit Northern Soul mid-tempo. Raw and wonderful ! Also if anyone has a clip of the B side, Don't You Know ( how you thrilled me when you kissed me), it would be appreciated thanks.
