  1. In my experience (paper sticking generally not record labels) Pritt can be a bit 'lumpy'. That's why I thought of spray mount as it gives a think even layer of adhesive - if you spray it carefully. Never used either on a record label though - so just ignore me Richard
  2. What about that 'spray mount' stuff? Would that be safe and sufficiently accurate for the purpose? It's in aerosol form. Richard
  3. She does have tendency to do a lot of technically very difficult vocal acrobatics, vibrato, fast scales etc. Not in the same cringe-worthy category thankfully as Gloria Taylor or even Mariah Carey What are her best lesser-known Northern-type tracks then? Cheers Richard
  4. I've got a WDJ Could well be a WDJ only release Richard
  5. I definitely like this one Richard
  6. For some Linda Jones is the most incredible soul singer ever. For others, she is just too much and goes over the top - too much 'wailing' and too many vocal acrobatics - basically too much cheese She has recorded some truly class tracks and I would be interested in hearing some I don't already know. To get things going, here is one I have always loved - not a solo effort but a combination with the Whatnauts. A song from my youth courtesy of the great Dave Evison. So, if Linda Jones is a Marmite singer, do you like Marmite? Hey, just spotted a classic cheese and Marmite thing going on here Cheers Richard
  7. Yes, it's "Don't You Need A Boy Like Me" that is commonly on issue. Richard
  8. It's on Northern Soul's Classiest Rarities, Vol. 2 Check the sleeve notes maybe for any original vinyl release details - or perhaps Ady will confirm Cheers Richard
  9. Nice one. Thanks for the info. Just goes to show what great taste Mr H has, as well as probably the best ever talent for making up cover-up names Cheers Richard
  10. I didn't realise how good this record is - such a fresh sound in a traditional Northern mould if you get my drift Thanks for posting Phil which prompted me to look out the YouTube. Fabulous record Cheers Richard
  11. To add to what Chalky says, when someone chooses to do set sales on here - publicly as it were - it seems strange to then remove the price when the item is sold because the sale price was advertised beforehand anyway. 'Offers' is another thing, but set sales are advertised transparently on here, so it makes sense that they remain so. Why should open public sales on Soul-Source be different to any other kind of open set sale on a website, sales list, email list etc.? Cheers Richard
  12. Well done Rod. Good idea. Richard
  13. Premium Stuff posted a post in a topic in Record Sales
    Correct as usual Mr. Smith.
  14. Thanks Robb To be frank - they are both absolutely fabulous records Sonny Monroe is a top, top, top, top class lead - and the backing is so tight Cheers Richard
  15. I don't have this 45 - but I do have the two CDs. Which of the two CD versions is the released version on the Apollo 45 then please - the 'Thelma' CD or the 'Roots of' CD? Cheers Richard
  16. Looking for a copy of this one please: Evans Clark & Hermon Weems = SOD - 'A Brighter World' (Heart, Amore, Desire #102) If you can help out please just PM me. Thank you Richard
  17. Eddie Spencer on Power Exchange (scan nicked from internet) By the looks of it that scan above is my copy of Eddie Spencer on Arc Cheers Richard
  18. This copy of Chuck Hently went through eBay during the latter part of last month. Quite rare and, despite how it looks, it still fetched 300 squid. Cheers Richard
  19. Would recommend asking JM about it directly - would that help? Cheers Richard
  20. Darn it Jim - you got me looking again But it's hard work. Seller - please can you list your records, state which are originals and which are bootlegs as you have both, state condition of records, and give an overall guide price, or price items individually? Ta Richard
  21. I looked at it and ignored it Richard
  22. Internet is an issue here as all you are seeing I presume are scans of the items, which John would have taken for the auction posting anyway I guess? Doesn't mean he has them does it? How can you be certain they are not other copies of the similar item? Think you just need to work out if you think the Mirwood items actually sold for £20 and that it was the auctioneer that bought them. Would they have gone unsold, was there a reserve or an opportunity to place one? Tricky one this - so facts are really important in deciding next steps mate. Richard
  23. One of the ongoing themes of the scene is the debate around ... too many events, too many venues, too many promoters, too much going on (of not great quality) and too many DJs That said, introducing the music to young or new listeners is an admirable aim. If that is what you are really aiming to do, then that will maybe set you apart from the 'too many events, promoters, DJs' issues - and I say go for it. The key thing will be to be very clear on what makes you different and why you are not just 'more of the same' - and I would suggest if you want to introduce new/young listeners, then your choice of venue should be driven mainly by that - so check your venue demographics and you will probably end up with a reasonably short list of possible places (when you add in the other things you need from a venue to make it a decent night). Sound like you are looking to find groups of people (potential/latent soulies) that happen to use a venue, rather than the right venue per se - and that will point you in the right direction. I'm rambling now Hope it helps anyway. Cheers Richard
  24. Isn't that on Thelma #115 though Nev - with "You Better Quit It" on the flip rather than "What Did I Do Wrong" - so easy to spot on both counts? Cheers Richard
