  1. Covered up as what mate - Emanuel Laskey maybe Cheers Richard
  2. "Love That Never Grows Old" - it's my top ever Detroit sound: https://www.groovesvilleusa.com/richardjohnstone.shtml Plus, not only does it get ignored - the song title is often misquoted as "A Love That Never Grows COLD" Cheers Richard
  3. Jackey Beavers on Revilot has always been a rare one - especially in decent condition. While not in the same league rarity-wise I also rate J.J. Barnes as one of the harder ones to pick up on the label these days - and remember it is on both the pink and multi-coloured labels. Cheers Richard
  4. I would say it has a Stafford-style soul beat Richard
  5. Think Bob might have been the only soulsourcer not to get this Ady Cheers Richard

More info here: https://www.radiotimes.com/episode/psdnh/classic-soul-at-the-bbc Cheers Richard
  7. 'Bring Me All Your Heartaches' on Grandland is a total classic for me - at least as a collector's record. Think it was fairly big at Stafford too was it not? Cheers Richard
  8. F*ck me How can you NOT DANCE to this Phil? Richard
  9. Forget the label variations What a top northern recrord Richard
  10. Rod Thank you You are spot on and right on as usual Much appreciated And I would urge all soulsourcers to heed Rod's wise words Cheers Richard
  11. I thank you is one if the best quality tracks on the label and a sound that transitioned me from Motown/Stax/Atlantic to proper Northern. Asked for it to be played in a 'mod' club near Melton Mowbray as a teenager and remember how it cleared the floor - just me dancing - but what a fabulous sound - and a p*ss poor response from the mods. Cheers Richard
  12. Cheers Ted Richard
  13. Missed this - one I need How much was it please? Cheers Richard

    Might not be 100% accurate - but off the top of my head the colours were: # 201 - grey, pink & WDJ # 203 - grey, pink & WDJ # 204 - grey & WDJ # 205-218 - multi-coloured (except # 211 pink bootleg as in post # 5 above) # 222 & # 223 - pink & multi-coloured # 224- # 228 - pink Cheers Richard

Exactly mate - I guess people who are looking to make a few quid on a dodgy deal don't always get it right Cheers Richard

Sorry Kev - was using phone and did not specify 'Don't Be Sore At Me' is the boot - the Time pink is legit for sure Cheers Richard

Dave - it's in Manship's Guide (and the old bootleg guide I think too) as a repro. Some have the DJ sticker on It's an obvious bootleg. Turns up fairly frequently on eBay - have a look at completed listings as I think there was one in the last couple of weeks. See attached. Cheers Richard

Think Parliaments - 'Don't Be Sore On Me' on pink is a boot (without checking). There was also grey label - early releases. Some came out on both e.g. J. J. Barnes - Our Love Is In The Pocket, Parliaments - Time. Cheers Richard
  20. There is a big difference in what different US sellers seem to be charging when adjusting to the new postage charges. I guess after a while market forces will make them settle down to a similar standard amount. Agreed that at the moment £10+ for shipping makes it not worthwhile and I have left a few things over the last couple of weeks. The thing that really pissed me off was sellers charging the higher postage rates when the new postage charges kicked in, even though the items were advertised and purchased before the rise Wait till I get to leave feedback the bast*rds Cheers Richard
  21. Agreed Robb - that's why it was cheating Richard
  22. Yes Richard
  23. Thanks Dave - didn't know about that - interesting. The Fantastic Four's version is one of my favourite Motown records - I have always thought of it as being in a similar style to Jackey Beavers - Love That Never Grows Old (Revilot), or Steve Mancha - Friday Night (Groovesville). I reckon it is the best Ric-Tic record that never was Cheers Richard
  24. Really enjoyed reading that Andy - what a great story Thank you for all your determination and effort to get to the bottom of one of Detroit's more intriguing Northern secrets. Cheers Richard
