Recent Manship Auctions - Ending Prices?
It would've been interesting to know how much the french Atlantic 7" of "Blues In The Night" (with only one track per side, NOT the EP) would've fetched in a Manship auction... it's much rarer in my experience and has got louder sound.

Jackie Shane
As far as Jackie Shane goes, his much rarer "Stand Up Straight And Tall" on Modern is a big favourite of mine.

Brooks O'dell
Tony, have you been in contact with Swamp Dogg? Perhaps he can help you out in some way.

Charity Shop Finds
"Into Something (Can't Shake Loose)" is an absoluter MONSTER gritty 70s dancer in my opinion. It's not worth much though as far as its value goes (£3-ish).

New World: We´re Gonna Make It
The tune is written by Curtis Mayfield and produced by Rich Tufo. Would be nice to have the full story behind this record, i.e. which members the New World actually consisted of etc. There are both styrene and vinyl copies out there. "We're Gonna Make It" is only included on the issue copies. The demo copies have got mono & stereo versions of the "wrong" side. Here is the information for all copies of this 45 which sold on eBay during 2007: Jan-20-07: $1591.66 (EX) Jan-26-07: $1576.22 (EX-) Jan-26-07: $1420.61 (EX) Feb-06-07: $1600.00 (VG++) Mar-11-07: $621.00 (VG-) Jul-06-07: $568.89 (VG) Nov-17-07: $1134.98 (M-) Dec-09-07: $1055.00 (M-)

That's Why I Cry
I had a closer look at my Elvis 45s and you're right, the little blobs aren't melted into the vinyl, but they were definitely put there during the manufacturing process by some kind of machine. I also have one 45 which has got its centre removed and you can clearly see the "gaps".

That's Why I Cry
Because if it had, it would've been pressed in Norway. Very often during the 60s, records pressed in Norway used to have german labels on them. The copy you posted up with the plastic tri-centre looks like the german RCA Elvis Presley 45s that I have. The edges of the plastic on the centre are melted into the vinyl/label.

That's Why I Cry
Just out of interest, does it have 710 or 810 stamped somewhere in the run-out groove?

£27.

Amy Winehouse - Live
Ashord/Simpson/Winehouse are credited as writers for the "Tears Dry On Their Own" track, the one which sounds a whole lot like "Ain't No Mountain High Enough". So no fishy business going on.

Two New Additions To My Box
Which issue of "So Much Love" did you get? Congrats if you got the one with "Sock 'Em With A Good Foot" on the b-side.

Info Required On Soft Records
As with most of Major Bill Smith's labels, the Soft discography is a bit of a mess and the label was eclectic as far as music styles goes and there were soul/funk/r&b releases as well as garage rock, pop, country etc. Here is a rough discography that I have: SOFT 777 - HOWARD CROCKETT - Honky Tonk Man SOFT 780 - BOBBY GALLANT - I'll Kiss Away Your Tears SOFT 826 - BOBBY SKEL - Kiss And Run SOFT 828 - BOBBY SKEL - Baby Doll SOFT 953 - BOBBY SKEL - Queen Of Hearts SOFT 957 - JO JO ADAMS - Mr. Temptation SOFT 983 - BOBBY SKEL - Three Candles SOFT 984 - GABREYS - Down At The Go-Go / If You Really Want Me To, I'll Go SOFT 1003 - SAMMIE JOHN - Boss Bag / Little John SOFT 1005 - BOBBY SKEL - The Soul Of A Man / Say It Now SOFT 1014 - JAMES MOORE - Feet / Cool SOFT 1018 - WILLIE HOBBS - Under The Pines / Cry, Cry, Cry SOFT 1029 - SIRS - Cool SOFT 1030 - WILLIE HOBBS - Action / A Woman Like Her SOFT 1032 - CHAPS - Maybe I'm Amazed SOFT 1035 - MATT BROWN - A Man Without A Woman / The Soul Of A Man SOFT 1036 - MATT & ROBERT - Mr. Pitiful SOFT 1041 - DELBERT MCCLINTON - Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah Lots of stuff missing though so feel free to add to it. James Moore's "Feet" is a version of "My Elusive Dreams" (Moses & Joshua Dillard etc.) with almost identical lyrics. Willie Hobbs "Action" features Pic & Bill on backing vocals.

Parliments On Jm's
There was an MP3 file on Manship's auction. Not the entire songs, but parts of them at least.

All These Prix Records
All of the Numero label releases are worth their prices for the booklets alone! Definitely buy it and throw away the actual CD if you're sensitive about these things. The unissued Eddie Ray track "Wait A Minute" (which recently was issued on a 7" as well) is truly awesome. And I take it that you haven't checked out their first Deep City compilation either? The unissued (acetate only) tune by The Moovers entitled "Darling I'll Go" is an utterly fantastic uptempo 60s dancer. Who's got the original acetate by the way? It seems to be pretty beat up, but would be nice to know.

Prices Please
This is usually somewhere between £50-£75 on UK lists, but you can probably get it cheaper on eBay. I sold a copy a couple of years back for £40.

Ebay Charges
I have no problem with that people think that the fees are to high or "unfair". It's that they feel wronged or unexpectedly "robbed" with the outcome that I don't understand. The sliding fee scale is the way eBay/PayPal have decided to do their business. We can either accept it or not, the info is there before anyone places an item on eBay. Besides, there is no sliding scale fee for records if you list them on the UK eBay site, it's always 9% regardless of what it sells for.

Las Vegas Connection
All four sides on their two 45s are great in my opinion. "Running Back To You", "Give Me Your Love" and "Dancing With My Love Bones" have all had their fair share of plays from myself, Helena and Jonte here in Sweden and I know that at least one of the Oslo guys are playing "Running Back To You" every now and then as well. (just realised that Helena posted at roughly the same time as I did... yes, that break is a bit too party-hardy... but I still think it's great)

Ebay Charges
I don't get it why some people complain about the eBay/PayPal charges as if they've been wronged in some way. As if their services should be free or cheap. One might have the opinion that the fees mentioned on the eBay and PayPal homepages are too high, but it's all there in plain text for everyone to read and they're not trying to fool anyone. They provide a service and they charge money for their users to use it. If someone don't want to pay the prices or think that they're too high, then they shouldn't use their services. In my opinion etc.

Las Vegas Connection
It has probably got more to do with the fact that the small quantity of this title which one major US dealer used to have has dried up, and this was the first copy with a soundclip which came up for grabs on eBay since then. Plus that no internet dealer seems to have it in stock.
-
Las Vegas Connection
I sold a copy of their other Hep' Me 45 for $203.50 a couple of weeks ago on eBay.

There are different "final value fees" on ebay.co.uk and on ebay.com On eBay.co.uk the final value fee for "media products" (i.e. records) is always 9% of the closing value.
