  1. This did get a US issue on Okeh as well. The UK issue is the original issue though, so for me personally the one to own.
  2. Thanks, Bob! I'm glad you liked it. I had no idea that the URS Band where The Tears, thanks for the info. I'm glad you enojoyed my selections, Melismo! That Phillip & Lloyd album is absolutely abysmal apart from "Keep On Moving" in my opinion. Quite amazing that they agreed to release such awful material considering their history. Must pick up those LAX LP's, I've only got some of their 7"s and 12"s. The jamaican group Casual T were indeed doctors. Their "Prescriptions For Love" LP (produced by and released on Rita Marley's label!) is extremely expensive and in-demand, but I luckily found "All Out Of Breath" on a 7" instead! By the way, here are the label/sleeve scans for the tunes in this mix:
  3. Unglued so-called "wrap-around" sleeves were very common in Scandinavia during the 60s/70s as well.
  4. Hello! I've listed a bunch of records on eBay. There are label/sleeve scans and soundclips to all records. 5. I had Jenny Wren's "Chasing My Dream All Over Town" go through my hands a couple of years ago. Surprisingly rare in my experience.
  6. I think what James meant to write was something along the lines of: "Why can't new spins that sounds like or are similar to The Crow etc. be accepted by those in positions of influence?" I might be wrong though, but that is how I read it.
  7. I think that the now almost 20 years old(!) Goldmine CD "Crossover Soul" (GSCD 9) makes a perfect case of what Rod Dearlove's definition of the term "crossover" was meant to describe. It's all late 60s and early-to-mid 70s stuff and has got a unified sound that is very easy to pin down in my opinion. Whether you agree with this definition is a different matter, I guess. Here's the tracklisting for that CD: 01 - RUBY ANDREWS - Just Lovin' You 02 - THE JUSTICE DEPT - Come Back Baby (To My Empty Arms) 03 - GEORGE PERKINS - I'm So Glad You're Mine 04 - SIDE SHOW - Lonely Girl 05 - VEE GEES - Talkin' 06 - JEANIE TRACY - Making New Friends 07 - BOB RELF - Girl, You're My Kind Of Wonderful 08 - ULTIMATES - Girl I've Been Trying To Tell You 09 - TY KARIM - Lightin' Up [Romark version] 10 - WILLIE TEE - Teasin' You Again 11 - TURNER BROS - Let's Go Fishing 12 - CREATIONS - A Dream 13 - ELLA WOODS - I Need Your Love 14 - GEORGE WILSON - Here Stands A Man Who Needs You 15 - JOHNNY THOMPSON - Given Up On Love 16 - DOROTHY JOHNSON - If It's Not Love Don't Waste My Time 17 - SMOKE - Have I Really Lost You 18 - SHOCK - Footsteps Across Your Mind 19 - SHELLY FISHER - Girl I Love You 20 - CELEST HARDIE - You're Gone 21 - VESSIE SIMMONS - Better To Bend Than Break 22 - WINSTONS - Colour Him Father 23 - LYNN VERNANDO - Wash And Wear Love
  8. TALK OF THE TOWN 836 - Kay Carter - Disco Sickness / I Wish You Were Here I once had the Kay Carter 45 and it was a real shocker!
  9. Timi Yuro sold for $1594 on eBay in April 2004 which at that time was about £1000.
  10. Its flipside, "I've Got A Song", is getting some spins. Perhaps that's the one? Amazing that they let the intro on that one pass! Very disjointed.
  11. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OpRSrHVyRYg
  12. Bobricke should be Bobrick. Greene should be Green. But as you stated, quite clever and sure must've taken some time to do.
  13. Pity about the two (!) spelling mistakes...
  14. It was a first issue that just sold for $463. A pretty decent price, the latest bunch of copies on eBay have sold for $500-$700.
  15. It seems to be an italian tune from the beginning. The writing credits are: Gene Colonnello, Mario Panzeri and Conrad. "Conrad" is perhaps the person that wrote the english lyrics? I have no idea really, just putting it out there.
  16. It's on his website: https://www.recordsbymail.com/search.php?keywords=391679
  17. Is it Cilla Black, perhaps? The Bystanders also recorded that tune on Piccadilly: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=21ARXNvPuJc
  18. About £10-£15 or cheaper. I'd make sure to get the MGM release though, the one on AQUARIAN has got the backing vocals (by a bunch of screaming kindergarten school kids!) very high in the mix which completely ruins it for me.
  19. Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed the mix.
  20. I agree, those "raised lip" King/Federal 45s are strange ones. I have no idea which pressing plant they were made at, but they are definitely original 60s pressings. I've got a whole stack of non-indemand King/Federal stuff with "raised lip" edge that wouldn't be worth bootlegging (alternatively were bought long before they were indemand), i.e. most of the King Pins 45s, most of the Johnny Guitar Watson 45s, plus many others by Expressions, James Duncan, Freddy King, Bobby King, Tab Smith, Moon Mullican, Lee Shot Williams, Tiny Topsy etc.
  21. As far as uptempo stuff I really like the highlighted ones below, especially "I've Got My Baby" and "That's What You Mean To Me": Federal 12484 - It Won't Be This Way Always / How Long Will It Last - 1963 Federal 12505 - Monkey One More Time / With The Other Guy - 1963 Federal 12517 - Two Hearts / I Won't Have It - 1964 Federal 12519 - You're Using Me / I Got The Monkey Off My Back - 1964 Federal 12525 - Just Keep On Smiling / I'm A Lonesome Rooster - 1964 Sims 287 - My Love Grows Stronger / I've Got My Baby - 1966 Excello 2290 - That's What You Mean To Me / Coming On In – 1967 Excello 2295 - Haven't I Been Good To You / If It Wasn't For Your Love - 1968 (version of Johnny Moore on WAND)
  22. Thanks, Tommy! I'm glad you like the selection. L.A.X. and Tony Northern (I could hardly believe the artist name when I found the 45!) sure are absolute monster tunes, and the good news is that both are cheapies as well!
