as another variation I have the US Atco as a west coast styrene press with fatter type & slightly lighter colored yellow. Also have the New Zealand 1971 press on Atlantic with the different flip.

For the longest time I would have added The Platters - Doesn't It Ring A Bell & Baby Baby to a thread like this, until I learned about the Portugese 7". So I've thrown away the Musicor LP & am now on the lookout for the 7"............ The search continues...........

Simply the best to ever do it. I could sell all my records, just keep my JB stuff & I reckon I'd still be happy.

I've been playing this out a lot lately, love the Tighten Up similarities as well. Also have been spinning this a lot recently.

LP is on Joya or something right? a totally different label to the 45 from memory.

He has other good 45s, like "I Got A Habit" also on Expo. It is a Chicago label.

I've played this out in the past but I think some people struggle with the novelty style vocal on it & that keeps it away from my regular plays, great backing track though.

you should be able to grab this for around $40, doesn't leave collections all that often & is filed by both soul & funk collectors. Great record. You know the Baby Huey version right? If not you may be wanting that too

It just strikes me as common courtesy to not put salt in someone else's game when they are trying to sell records and need the money. Times are tough. If you don't like the price at least have the form to contact the seller directly if you feel the need instead of showing poor form & publicly trashing their pricing. There are overpriced (according to poopsike - which btw is a wildly inaccurate source to price definitively from) records strewn about the sales forum on a daily basis, sometimes you just gotta move on & let people try to do their thing. Maybe if someone does want the record bad then they will pay regardless of what someone else posts re. the price & then this whole topic is moot, but I kinda feel like it's not our place to risk tipping that line either way.

one would probably have more success negotiating the pain threshold while trying to repeatedly punch oneself in the face as opposed to trying to assemble a definitive discography for Champ, Designer would be even worse, United wouldn't be so bad if they weren't so rare. yeah, there is a ton of killer stuff on Champ. To a certain extent I would say that they had to be doing a similar thing to Designer, straddling the line between actual label and a custom service. Just to get the sheer amount of material through the door.

There is definitely the odd Wand 45 from around that era on vinyl (Joe Arnold - Soul Trippin' comes to mind) but the overwhelming majority seem to be styrene, so it's not entirely out of the question for it to exist on vinyl, but it is a long shot.

I have bought a lot of stuff off this guy before, never had an issue, he does sell some boots/represses but they are usually fairly obvious & he does have a lot of deadstock originals too.

Is this not just a common oldie? I've always just thought it was one of those 45s which has always been around from speaking to more "experienced" DJs than myself.

if the record plays through without a problem then just leave it. if not, then please tell us who you are buying 45s from so we can avoid them.

yeah, it's cheap.

definitely happens from time to time, someone napping at the pressing plant or whatever, not sure of the rarity/desirability of it in relation to this particular 45 though?
