  1. Great idea.... Might be Manc airport carparks could be used if travel restrictions carry on. Do it for charity...and it could get leverage. Ed
  2. I think it could happen if you get a big enough venue...maybe a disused airport/landing strip. 250 people 2m apart if you stand mainly in the middle of your square...8000 square m needed...etc etc. That's a big car park... Ed
  3. I always thought ALBH sounded like: Same driving beat... Ed
  4. It's a great historic thread. There must have been some real money for labels lucky enough to get a national hit. Interesting to know a label owner could hire a competitors studio. Anything to keep overheads down I guess. So Sad very few hit the jackpot. Ed
  5. And arguably..a b-side was the best release! Ed
  6. Next thing will be dancers dancing in pairs....heaven forbid. I've seen those popcorn wallers...doing it...keep it on the continent thank you:) Must admit doing the conga a cleethorpes winter gardens under the influence and direction of BUB... Ed
  7. I remember it coming out. No logic to what come out in terms of all rare or breaking tracks at the time. Betty boo was a must have track for obvious reasons but Ronnie Love was not that hard to get on original US release. I guess some younger folks look at it as a collectable label the same way as I looked at stateside. Aside from Betty Boo...who I saw in Detroit 2017...lester Tipton and Jimmy Burns are surely the most collectable. Ed
  8. I'm not sure what we saw last night is not the 'here and now' world of northern soul, outside of a few premier events. Every town has nights like those shown last night, very often, and collectively it's the biggest chunk of today's northern soul world, whether you like it or not. The 'real deal' is a minority scene. I went to a skeggy butlins weekend a couple of years ago and definitely felt like a fish out of water by not being in uniform! The 100 club is where the lad needs to head off to next. I hope he is still bouncing about at 6 in the morning! Ed
  9. Anthony has no idea what he has got himself into....no turning back now:) At about the same age, I luvvved interplay too! The dancing will get better as 'the shoe' told him. Just nice to see somebody who looks plugged in to the energy on the floor. Not sure about those line dancing soulie girls. A bit intimidating when 20 of them are coming at you! Let's hope the flood gates open with youngsters looking for salvation when the flood gates of the venues open again. Ed
  10. This looks interesting: "(Robert) Peckman is a local veteran musician and an original member of the Skyliners. He was also managed by Joe Rock and he played with Daye on many occasions during the sixties. Two of Peckman’s numerous projects over the years include Simon and the Piemen, released locally in Pittsburgh in the mid-sixties, and Mike & Ike, who released a record on the Philadelphia-based Arctic label. Daye received songwriting credits on each of the group’s lone singles, but he admits to having little involvement. “I never had anything to do with those songs aside from sitting around the studio goofing off. Joe Rock wrote them and included my name on them. I was just there.... If you can call it singing...it was Daye then, on these two singles. The contrails look to have had several releases. Ed
  11. Well reading that link. JOHNNY DAYE says he had nothing to do with the record except his mate put him down as a writer, even though he wasn't. The mystery is still to be solved.. Ed
  12. Let's face it, the band could have been anybody. Use a joke name, and all the money goes to anybody but the band. It was just a b side anyway, and different writers to the a side. I wonder why they chose the instrumental rather than vocal ? Assuming the vocal was written at that time. If they had...it might have made the a side. Ed
  13. What came first, the vocal or instrumental? Any reason why the real artist or band are not named on the artic record. Ed
  14. Sounds like the other contrails track singers also. Definitely blue eyed. Ed
  15. I think it was a joke name....to hide the real artists, like Jack and Jill on artic. Mike and Ike are oblong fruit-flavored chewy candies that come in several colors and varieties, including cherry, orange, lime, lemon, and strawberry. ... The candy is kosher and gluten-free. They are similar to Hot Tamales, another candy introduced by the same manufacturer in 1950, though they are not spicy. Place of origin: Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, USA (1940) Created by: Just Born, Inc Other information: 0 grams of fat; kosher; gluten-free Ed

  19. Great record I've never heard out much at all. Was it big at Wigan? Ed
  20. How many grapevine copies were made? If young kids buy LT and EH.. That's as good a pair to get you hooked as anything. The future looks good. The rich young kids will still want OV. Ed
  21. Looks like he is still a busy guy https://www.eddieholman.com/ I surrender is in a league of it's own. Ed
  22. Connie Clark sounds as white as the driven snow, just like Chris Clark....and like kiki Dee has that deep sultry note in the range to make you wonder... And that's how it is:) Ed
  23. Yes I can see that 'former' husband BUT in her apartment... Like something out of POWER on Netflix.. Ed
  24. No wonder the marriage did not last long! Ed
