  7. Knew him very well from about 78 to mid 80s then more infrequently I guess. Not seen him in a good few years, and did not know he was not well. Memories abound from Scarborough bank holidays, cleethorpes, and many other places. RIP Tom. Ed

Ed
  9. Any more details? Ed
  10. I did not know pointer sisters were that early, or Mel Britt for that matter. Probably 77 / 78 before I heard send him back at Wakefield Unity. Must have almost been an oldie by then... Ed
  11. That brings home the stark reality of this loss to the soul world. Sends shivers down your spine. RIP Lorraine, you enriched our scene so much and your legacy will live on forever. Ed
  12. Let's not diss DILYIID Or we start world war 3.. And he would have probably been able to dance to it better than James Carr, which hardly anybody can dance to well. Ed
  13. Indeed Some of those early Wigan dancers are used with several different records! No idea what they were originally dancing to. Ed
  14. I guess it's crazy to compare how I can dance now compared to 40 years ago, like many others, the willingness is there, but the engine is starved of oomph. Nevertheless, I've said it before, and I'll say it again....for the first minute of 'I'm gone, ton of dynamite etc, I can still keep up with the best of the best. I just need oxygen soon after:) Ed
  15. How many DJs are on SS? Short topic.... Add what record would get you onto an empty dancefloor, and you might get a real insight useful to djs... Ed
  16. A big future ahead for them for sure... Ed
  17. I could watch ? Cameron Diaz all night long.... Need to get to Matlock soon. Ed
  18. Big record at the KGB Sheffield around 79/80 and easily 5 or 6 times a night. Even got pressed up. A touch of velvet was also hard on its heels along with Black Power. Amazing what filled the floor really. Ed
  19. Back on topic....ish This is the funniest ' dancer' I've EVER seen. Ed
  20. Back in the day it was 40 inch bottoms and 28 inch top. Funny how life turns upside down:) It is a terrible record to dance to .....and look good. Ed
  21. I think 'vesty' does it better.... Ed
  22. For sure.... In fact if the most valuable 500 come up for sale....subjective most valuable... The mind boggles at the total £ value. Ed
  23. The top 500 is definitely a £1m investment now. Somebody somewhere is going to come across a big box of these big hitters in a charity shop, when a secretive collectors passes, and the relatives just clear the house... Ed
  24. To be fair it's a hard tune to look good dancing at. Probably a born again norvun soulie who got some retro spencers for Xmas. Saw loads at skeggy butlins of the same ilk. There is an industry built around them though, so many promoters will have loved it, and this fella could get promotional work! Ordinary Joe meets never learned to dance, springs to mind. The splits might have been an error though...don't try this at home! The NHS can't cope with any more crisis at the moment. Ed
  25. Terrible start to the new decade. RIP Herley Ed
