  1. There must be more than one gig if it's a tour? Ed
  2. Sad news RIP. This track seems to have become a must play item, and I never tire of it. Ed
  3. It got played, it got danced to, it's got history, on a small label like this and it bombed on first release, so it's going to be rare. However, it's personal choice whether it's quality or not. Just because it's all those things above should not make it more likeable, but will probably make it more collectable to rare Northern Soul record collectors. £500 would buy a lot of quality less rare originals, but to some folks that's irrelevant. Ed
  4. Always thought it was a copy cat of The rolling Stones version of satisfaction.... Definitely a lot more Northern than Soul. Indeed it was a production line back in the 70s but not all of it has stood the test of time. Ed
  5. Stop girl was a 5 or 6 week wonder.... They were ALL 5 or 6 week wonders back in the day because there were so many like this getting found. Hardly a classic but bound to be rare ish...as they probably only sold a few hundred at most. Most of the ones we got were from the US warehouse raiders like soul bowl. Ed
  6. Live now. They say don't look down Ed
  7. I remember the gallop being played at Spurley Hey school / youth club all dayer Rotherham, around 77 Also used by the BBC on a few programmes, so it must have been on grapevine. However I did own a copy of IBTY on the yellow satiron and always thought it could not have been an original as I only paid a few Bob for it. Probably dropped a bo*ll*k there if in fact this thread is true.....sold it cheap as well.. Still somebody has got my copy.... What a moody tune. Awesome played loud in a big hall.. Ed
  8. Bit of an unusual one here from yesterday, Orlando City ground....but the funny part of it was the amount of foreigners wearing their own team tops such as Wolves, Man U, Celtic, Rangers, Of course the Mighty Millers...etc. Truly great atmosphere if you ever go to Florida. Ed
  9. Sharkeys Pier Venice Fl earlier today. Ed
  10. Very sad news. Always remember magic potion at the Mexborough Brickyard club. Never heard it anywhere else, and it sticks out as a sublime soul record. RIP Ed
  11. How long has the Fidels not been a £25 cheapie? Ed
  12. Top 500 fill the floor, allegedly.... Must differ venue to venue. Valentinos at a handbag night won't cut it. A good all rounder if not played to death is GSH the bottle. Ed
  13. Casey Key today... Indeed.. Ed
  14. Views from the Westin Sarasota tonight. Stunning. Ed
  15. Heard little Sony played at the 2017 Detroit a go go gig. First time ever aside from the LP I bought around 77. Rance Allen is top 10. Great choices from a great label. Ed
  16. Sad news. A very versatile music man involved in so many records. Reunited with many of his fellow stars now, there's sure to be a big concert upstairs. Ed
  17. Thought Ann Newby LIRMG was last year.. Shows how time flies. Ed
  18. I do understand that a single record only selling about 1000 copies is unlikely to make anything, and I agree selling 1000 is still impressive! Back in the day, I'm sure weak spot, reaching for the best, footsee, etc did give a return, even though targeting a niche crowd, but that same crowd today must be smaller and more selective on what they would buy. So on to topic, just as always, the majority of records ( or Cd singles, or buyable mp3 tracks etc) must try and sell as many as possible? Not sure many companies do anything for love? You can't put food on the table with love and respect alone....even the bible ain't free! Ed
  19. Is retro the same as tailor made? How many copies of a cut like this would need to sell to make it commercially viable? Ed
  20. Another remake... Not bad but nothing much as good as this coming out as new material....unless you know different. Ed
  21. Indeed. Such characters....seems like yesterday we were all at Scarborough for Easter! Scrumpy en al.. Ed
  22. Did My heart needs a break and / or Just can't live my life get played out before she died? Just wonder if she knew of the impact they had / have before she passed. Truly a class act, and her music will live on for a long time to come. Ed
  23. Is that Gordon Trow RIP at the front on the first snap? Ed
