Ok! So did Dusty W...appear at the Westwood Ho weekender? If he did, then it's 99.9 % Wilson and Williams. Gino Washington is certainly a very talented guy, so putting together this tune as described above would certainly be possible. He did say Dusty was the only tomango just last week. Ed

If the US LP only track 'Lend a hand ' could have been slipped on the back of this single below.....it would have been a sensation. Ed

Not sure, but I guess somebody knows.. I get where you are coming from...detroit writer and singer..quite soulful, but lacks umph..in my opinion. But what about anything recorded from D Williams?

How old is Soul Sam? Still breaking new sounds etc Ed

Sadly the greatest would not be the richest...as most Northern 'qualified ' tunes would have bombed.. Hence why so many went back to day jobs after a brief recording career. Edwin Starr at least made a kind of living from it, performed it most often, and My weakness is you and Agent double 00 soul are in my top 10.. Ed

Bub always played it keeps raining as one of his staple tunes.... Fats inspired many musicians by all accounts and his work will live on for many years. RIP Ed

Last night Gino Washington, the owner of washpan records declared he pressed 1000 copies of Tomangoes I really love you.... How much is the super rare disc fetching these days, assuming 500 copies survived? It would be good to know some how some way, how many discs were made of our favourite rarest of the rare records ! Ed

The programme makers did not cut Don Arden any slack....................obviously Shaz did not condemn him, but in conclusion he was no guardian of the artists interest alone. The 'savvy' artists eventually got proper Lawyers to protect their cut. One interesting fact was that when 'cd's' came out, the record companies made massive amounts of money selling reproduced album's at a 50% hike on album costs but cd's cost virually nothing to produce. Great show tonight by Shaz Osborne highlighting the royalties got out of a successful 60s record.. 1penny out of a 66 penny 45rpm single sale. With their expenses deducted from that penny! Some pretty angry stars interviewed after they realised what they signed up to! You can see from this how many artists went back to a day job even after a couple of hits. No wonder many of our 'soul stars ' never enjoyed financial gain for their efforts. Ed

One of my faves from the Cleethorpes Winter Gardens era, although the instrumental was played more on early plays.... Famous starliters included Jimi Hendrix, Joe Pesci (the actor) and Felix Cavaliere! Ed

How long has Steve Mancha's version been played as a regular play? Only heard it a couple of times, whereas Johnny Taylor 's must have been more maintstream? In terms of quality, I agree with others that in essence it's like two different tunes. Ed
