I think I see the item you mean. I don't think there is anything dodgy going on. It looks to me that g**9 has bid twice ($36.77 and something over $61.77). At the time the bid shown would be just high enough to beat the next highest bidder. Bidder f**p has tried to beat g**9 by repeatedly placing bids just slightly above g**9's winning bid, causing the ebay system to raise g**9's bid to the next highest winning level (which it will do until g**9's maximum is reached). The bid history doesn't display these automatic bids. If you click on the bidders you can see their bid activity over the last 30 days. Neither has much activity with the seller, so it doesn't seem that someone connected with the seller is creating false competition. If I was thinking of bidding on this record, I would wait until the last few seconds before placing my bid, to avoid stimulating further competition.
  4. I meant to type 16/2, thanks. Probably good idea to go elsewhere.
  5. I hadn't heard this before but like it a lot. My 5 most-played: Denise Germaine - Too Ra Loo Ra Lenis Guess - Thank Goodness Gotta Good Woman Hollywood Flames - Dance Senorita Scott Brothers - My Day Has Come Larry Wedgeworth - No More Games
  6. Scheduled for Motherwell on 16/2. Might have done better in Glasgow or Edinburgh. Two shows on the day too, bit optimistic hoping for turnout at 5pm I think.
  7. I found a clip on internet; instrumental is much better than the vocal. Didn't think there would be any demand for this, but I see copies went on eBay for around £100 and £140 earlier this year.
  8. At least he had Booker T & MGs, Sly & Family Stone, Jackson 5 and The Supremes. Scariest thing is that the advert says it has 'a mind of its own'. Made me think of Hal in 2001 Space Odyssey.
  9. I got a tape from Pat Brady dated 4/5/78 that has Sax In The Night on it, listed as by D.Hobson. Also on the tape from the above playlist are Chandlers, Eddie Curtis (Bobby Womack), Velvets and Mickey Laney. Sax In The Night was probably a recent release at the time. Slightly disco-ish, a bit like a cross between Junior Walker - Walk In The Night and Houston Person - Disco Sax, but more basic and not as good. Have never heard it anywhere else.
  10. I think 8 is Bobby Womack - Find Me Somebody.
  11. Very nice, thanks. I've seen this Motown Yesteryear on ebay which seems to be a current repressing. https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=291040061756 Not as appealing as the red vinyl demo!
  12. Is that what's behind the reissue over the last year or so of lots of very early Motown/R&B stuff?.
  13. This is the release with the spoken intro. Has it been bootlegged? My reason for asking is that I've seen copies with label differences, notably in the text that gives publisher info at the left of the centre hole. In some copies this text is right justified, following the curve of the centre hole (therefore making the indentation at the left side irregular). I've also seen copies where this text is left-justified. Thanks in anticipation.
  14. They get put up in Friday afternoon, time varies, usually about 2 or 3. They usually all get snapped up quite quickly, within an hour or so. I can't remember the last time I saw prices actually dropping.

    Well done! Off ebay?
  16. ...and (surprisingly) It wasn't even a hit in the UK.
  17. It was on the Sequel CD (now deleted I think) The Fascinations - Out To Get'Cha.

There's lots of clips on Youtube of people clapping with one hand (not at soul nights though).

Good double clapping on Reaching For The Best on a Cleethorpes live podcast from 1975 that Pete Smith put up. Starts at 11.38. https://www.mixcloud.com/mayfairmenthol/cleethorpes-pier-allnighter-1975-northern-soul-live-tape/
  20. I think there has been an upsurge in certain types of UK items, particularly in Tamla Motown and UK pop-soul/mod records. Makes me wonder if it is fuelled by younger folks wanting retro stuff, rather than post-kids older buyers.
  21. The backing to Ronnie McCain - This Time I'm Gone is very similar to Tighten Up. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ThOZr4EgzFo
  22. Soul Suspects - Funky Drop Similar, but more like Archie Bell's - Can Stop Dancing: Big T & The Peacemakers - Tighten Up Tighter Oh, and one by Homer Simpson: Homer Simpson https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YEOmef9PmiU
  23. Issue copy of Ask The Lonely TMG 507 has just sold for £205 on ebay. Amazing!
  24. Is this the track (Jackie Lee solo) that got issued on Jayboy attributed to Bob & Earl?
  25. If you're still looking for the Four Tops TMG 507, there is a copy on eBay finishing in a few days and still at a low price.
