  1. .... at the Toronto Record Show. I was flicking thorugh a box and this bloke asked me if I new Eric Mercury? Yes, says I - Lonely Girl on Sac. Well, he is stood over there. I spent the next hour trying to find a 45 by him to get it signed and finally turned up a Atlantic thing from 83 he did with Roberta Flack. Had a lovely chat with him about records, UK Soul fans, Edwin Starr etc, what a nice guy. I also finally managed to track down a copy of The Tempests album - $30 - and a couple of bits: Mood Mosaic, David and the Giants - Superlove, EG Smith, a couple of Phil LA promo's and a great R&B thing by Bobby Mitchell that was a pleasant surprise when I Popsiked it. All in all a nice way to spend a day.

  4. Hasnt it been re-issued on a looky-likey as well? I saw one in Toronto a couple of months ago and got excited until dealer said it was re-issue?
  5. I know Aki at Cosmos West on Queen Street, Toronto has one and he swears by it. It came from Japan and he has offered a "flattening" service to me but we didnt discuss a cost.
  6. That copy a year or 2 ago was probably mine. Funnily enough I got that from the same Flea Market in St Catherines that I got the Bobby Paris from. at the weekend.
  7. Rare? Anybody else got/seen one? Picked one up at the weekend. On the subject of Canadian, did Night Owl come out on Canadian Cameo?
  8. Doh - when I saw Guess Who I was on my way upstairs to look through my boxes of iffy Canadian 45's in case it was a B side by them.
  9. There is a show coming up in Roseville, MI on the 13th. Anybody been there? Any good for 45's?
  10. Yeah. I know it is the Canadian issue. I was VERY surprised to find it in Kop's for $5.99C. This made we wonder if it had been pressed as a Canadian issue. The shop is pretty poor now and the last time I was there I complained about the Gangsta Rap one of the muppets was blasting out. The Northern stuff is now pretty non-existent. There is probaly 50 boxes of Soul but it is mainly all mainstream stuff. Do any of you blokes go out to Henry's in Scarborough, I have found some nice stuff there but, again, there is a lot of mainstream stuff to wade through. By the way, the kids in Kop's are just employees not relatives, my son has just moved to Toronto and he has put his resume in there (you never know). Some years ago they had a slightly older bloke there who used to let me look at the boxes that were going to ship to Anglo. By the way, where is his warehouse?
  11. OK, now rictic has got his I would like to buy the next one up for grabs Kevin
  12. Modern Soul - MARVIN RUFFIN - THIS THING CALLED LOVE - RUFF STUFF in Ex conditon. $100 includes Air ship. Paypal preferred at no extra cost.
  13. I was in the huge HMV in Toronto last week and asked for this and the idiot kids stood there scratching there heads. I took the time to look through the Soul Compilation section and it was pitiful. Is there anyway to get this in Canada without special order? Not sure whether Kop's would carry this
  14. I dont mean to be glib but you should have offered them on here and saved the ebay fee's. Lots of good buyers on here.
  15. On the question of Kop's, I was there last week, see my post re. the Roy Hamilton bootleg (as i now find out). I also bought a copy of Basic, Black and Pearl - There'll Come A Time - Wam but it was only $5.99, it was not priced the same as all his other stuff so I thought somebody might have made a mistake. Does anyone know if this has been "booted"? His selection is a pale shadow of what it used to be, lots of boots, pressings, re-issues etc and the stock doesnt seem to change much from one month to the next.
  16. Eddie, that is what I am trying to establish.
  17. That is the one Prophonics. I am assuing UK demo as address says Ace Records, Laaandan.
  18. Picked up a Roy Hamilton 45 on Kent Soul from Kop's and wondered if it was previously un-released? Was it done as a promo for a CD? Titles are Let The Music Play/You Belong To My Heart - Kent Soul KT-962-A
  19. They never really bothered me until I found a pile of about 10 of each mint Fantastic Four and Al Kent 45's on the Dark Red Canadian Ric Tic label and the drill hole went through the last 5 or 6 grooves, gutted.
  20. I have a box of US company sleeves just lying around and wondered if anyone was interested in them. A quick cross section of sleeves: World Pacific, World Artists, Westbound (blue with New York address), Uptown, Reinbeau, Parrot, Mutual, Liberty, King (4 different styles), Kapp, IRDA, Hanna Barbera, Hi, Hickory, GWP, Fontana, Fraternity, Dyno Voice, Decca, Dunhill, Coral, Cameo, Cameo Parkway (3 different styles), Challenge, Co-Ed, Cub, Bunky, Brunswick, Boom, APT etc etc. Plus lots of Atlantic and Atco and an Australian Atlantic sleeve. Also got a small handful of Canadian like Zircon, Quality, Barrel and a few more. Am asking $5 each but am open to offers. Let me know what you are interested in.
  21. Came out on Bell in Canada as well
  22. I have had 3 of them over the years and the first track on the 60's side has always jumped? Was that deliberate? Do they all skip? There was thread on here last year? about this album.
  23. I have pretty much stopped buying off ebay for both of the above reasons, condition and shipping. There must be some mileage in a data base of dodgy dealers/sellers on here.
  24. I have an Ex condition Canadian copy if you want to make an offer. I also have a vg+ US copy as well
  25. Bring back Polly and Dennis Lee.
