Antiques Roadshow Eric Knowles
Dont feel guilty for posting. I actually listened to this last night and he admitted he only had a handful of 45's and now bought comp CD's but he did speak with a passion about the Mecca, Catacombs etc etc and the Soul scene in the early 70's. Wasnt too bad to listen to.

I Met Eric Mercury Yesterday
Joan, as Ian says I believe he lives in Toronto now. I did ask him about Lonely Girl and also the nice 45 he had on Columbia. Boba, he seemed genuinely pleased to talk about all his stuff and didnt seem to upset about the value of the Sac 45, which, of course I jokingly asked him if he had any hanging about. He was there with a guy who has taken over a shop in Toronto called Books Plus on the Danforth. It used to be run by a guy from London,UK and I have got a couple of Oriole things and UK Reggae 45's from there in the past. He did mention the 45 I got signed was done JUST before the split from Atlantic but he wouldnt expand on it!!

I Met Eric Mercury Yesterday
.... at the Toronto Record Show. I was flicking thorugh a box and this bloke asked me if I new Eric Mercury? Yes, says I - Lonely Girl on Sac. Well, he is stood over there. I spent the next hour trying to find a 45 by him to get it signed and finally turned up a Atlantic thing from 83 he did with Roberta Flack. Had a lovely chat with him about records, UK Soul fans, Edwin Starr etc, what a nice guy. I also finally managed to track down a copy of The Tempests album - $30 - and a couple of bits: Mood Mosaic, David and the Giants - Superlove, EG Smith, a couple of Phil LA promo's and a great R&B thing by Bobby Mitchell that was a pleasant surprise when I Popsiked it. All in all a nice way to spend a day.

Buyers Beware Very Cute Dealer
Yeah. I know it is the Canadian issue. I was VERY surprised to find it in Kop's for $5.99C. This made we wonder if it had been pressed as a Canadian issue. The shop is pretty poor now and the last time I was there I complained about the Gangsta Rap one of the muppets was blasting out. The Northern stuff is now pretty non-existent. There is probaly 50 boxes of Soul but it is mainly all mainstream stuff. Do any of you blokes go out to Henry's in Scarborough, I have found some nice stuff there but, again, there is a lot of mainstream stuff to wade through. By the way, the kids in Kop's are just employees not relatives, my son has just moved to Toronto and he has put his resume in there (you never know). Some years ago they had a slightly older bloke there who used to let me look at the boxes that were going to ship to Anglo. By the way, where is his warehouse?

I00 Club. Cd
I was in the huge HMV in Toronto last week and asked for this and the idiot kids stood there scratching there heads. I took the time to look through the Soul Compilation section and it was pitiful. Is there anyway to get this in Canada without special order? Not sure whether Kop's would carry this
