Funny you say that. Sorry to say but there are also many original artists that make a mockery of the tunes they recorded back in the 60s when they do a live gig nowadays.

Sites like Bandcamp are full of countless number of high quality new releases available only as digital download.

Was used as theme tune for German TV show "beat club" from 1968 on. Later als for another show but forgot its title. Btw, flipside of orig 45 "bond Street “ is a great mod/r&b instrumental.

Last night in a hotel's Restaurant just outside of Stirling: Lots of Northern classics, original versions and obvious rerecordings. Maybe not that unusual to any British. But didn't expect it. Nice way for the missus and me to kick off a two weeks holiday in Scotland. Kids didn't like it though 😉

Not from me i'm afraid, I'm not that much of a movie fan apart from Star Wars (excl. episodes 1-3). But I'm going to try and watch some of the movies that have been nominated so far.

There are a number of cover versions, Dionne Warwick, Maxine Brown, Freddie North, Tommy Hunt, Brenda & The Tabulations. Each one is good in its own right but none come close to Big Maybelle IMO.
