  1. There's a Joyce Harris who sang with the Slades but obviously wasn't in the band (them being an all-male outfit). Texas release. Cholli Maye Gold 45 is from the east coast. Same singer? I doubt.
  2. Maybe it's the demand from the Northern scene that increases prices in absolute numbers. But I think it's been the lowrider/sweet soul 45s that are skyrocketing these days in relation to what they did cost say 10/15 years. And many if not most of them are bought by UK collectors.

Again. He never claimed to own all the records he posted on YT, did he? Then why bother trying to "unmask" him?
  4. nice little 2min documentary. It's not saying Northern Soul went away and is now coming back. It's saying it's popular again with the youth/younger crowd. And that it's all about dancing and everybody's welcome. Of course you have also some "journalistic inaccuracy". Like when the voice-over talks about rare US soul records and the vid shows a CD player 😄 And of course you have the obligatory Wigan Casino reference in it.
  5. Soul Inc 7" and LP version of WGUMCD sound like the same version to me. Clearly studio recordings. Maybe they didn't have enough live material for an entire album and added this studio cut?
  6. According to Discogs and based on the linked YT vids as reference (and I know how easy it is to link the wrong video) my understanding is: 7" Emblem 101 - Soul Inc. WGUMCD (Studio Cut) LP Emblem 106 - Soul Inc WGUMCD (Studio cut, rest of album is "live") 7" Emblem 109 - Charts Unlimited WGUMCD (same song but completely different version) Correct? PS: Sorry for hijacking the John & Wierdest thread.
  7. And M- NOS copies turned up some years ago.
  8. Terrible? Valadiers is a great example of the early Motown sound. I love it.
  9. it's not the first but infact the third reissue/bootleg of it. Do you know if this one was legal? The Hamilton Movement / Nat Hall – She's Gone / Why (I Want To Know) – Vinyl (7", Single, Unofficial Release), [r1424482] | Discogs
  10. Sam & Bill is not a demo. All german “Amercian Series” Decca 45s are on white labels but not demos.
  11. Anthony Hall was another bargain. It's probably one of the best Popcorn records I've ever heard.
  12. I think Lucky Charms was rather reasonable. Although I don't know what condition it was in. How rare is the Larry Allen release these days? From what I remember the L. Allen 2nd press is much more common but even that seems to have vanished....
  13. sure because it can't get worse than the a-side
  14. ups, didn't read the comments.
  15. Does anybody recognize the other songs in the vid? I haven't played it through, skipped parts. Marion Sodd, Voicemasters, Black Stash. what else?
  16. Sorry, missed Sorry, was distracted for a minute and when I continued to type my reply I thought you were saying it might be a new production. Note to myself: pay more attention. I agree with you, it has that late 60s/early 70s sound beach sound.
  17. I'll never forget this quote from Derek Pearson about Mike & Ray - If only you knew. It's just as fitting for Margaret Little: "Vocally a bit iffy but what a backing"
  18. Really? It doesn't sound modern to me. At least not over laptop speakers. Not saying it's def not a modern days effort. It reminds me of stuff like Greater Experience or Soul Inc - Proposal. Especially the horns sound very much like Gary Knight - Holding on to me. If it was a modern production it's a very convincing for me.
  19. Sounds like a 60s blue eyed carolina beach sound to me.

@Sebastian Would you mind sharing to which country it went once the auction is finished?

Him to appear you would have to say his name thrice: levine, levine, ...
  22. If the record in the video wasn't played at the correct speed it's hard to tell who might have sung it. Based on the phrasing I think it could be Chuck Jackson Ben E. King
  23. Ok thanks. Speaking of cover ups, can you share a few more details about Diane Lewis? I understand it's an uncredited acetate. And along the mello souls a track which literally blew me away the first time heard it.
  24. Wow. I'd say it needs loads of guilt to like ten miles high 😉 I really like The Construction btw....
  25. @neckender King Bartels it's alright Was this Clarence Coulter by any chance?
