I love it and I'd play it out if I were dj'ing. Best version as well IMHO.

"only Your Love Can Save Me" Bettye Lavette - Multiple Recordings?
Many UK releases were not taken from a master tape but dubbed from the US 45 equivalent. Maybe they dubbed BL from disc and fiddled around with the mastering to improve sound quality?

Art Gentry - This Is My Chance / Kent Sampler
That makes more sense I guess. But 96/97 more likely. I won my own copy in the Shades of Soul competition but got a second copy shortly later from a local funk collector. He got it from Kent but didn't know what to do with it, wasn't funky enough for him.

B.b. King - Any Northern Plays?
Give "Help the door" a try. A great record. And definitely soul. Straight on my wants list.

Please Help To Identify Some 80Ies Steppers And Rare Grooves
Sorry for hijacking this thread. Are steppers and rare groove sounds still played out loud anywhere? Just wondering....

B.b. King - Any Northern Plays?
two from my collection: Paying the cost to be the boss, Heartbreaker. Both solid R&B worth a spin or two

Chapter 5
I guess you'll find out the german release is much rarer than the UK one. And I don't want to even think about the italian one.
-
Art Gentry - This Is My Chance / Kent Sampler
I guess most copies are "lost" nowadays. Tucked away at the back of the collection of some music business promotion guy or offloaded at the local 2nd hand record shop.

Solid Solution - Think About It Girl .... Silver Spoon 45?
Yes, plenty of threads about it. But none of them prove that any copy exists apart from Ian Clark's. Here's a link to Sebastian posts showing a scan of Ian's copy:

Wrong side of Town
I really like "Wrong side of town" ever since it came out well over 10 years ago. Nice lyrics. Excellent vocals. Catchy melody. Is it Northern to me? Yes and No to a certain degree. Certainly no upfront Rare Soul material. What I dislike about it and what still leaves a pretty sour taste in my mouth is the scam that IL tried to pull back then. Bullshit stories like "first ever copy found back in 1971 got broken when some famous name sat on it on a bus to the Mecca". Selling a copy to Ginger for a 4 figure sum. etc. etc. That's basically why I never bought a vinyl copy of it. I don't want a record in my collection with such a history. And finally I said it back then when it came out and I say it again now: Anyone who doesn't hear it's a new production, you're probably deaf.

Obscure - unusual Foreign Releases
I really like the dutch Hesitations and Johnny Wyatt. Great finds! As nice as the euro Motown releases may look, they don't look half as good as some comparatively obscure Northern Soul 45s.

Jay Boy Records - Us Releases?
London pressed and distributed Jay Boy in the US. Two different labels I'm aware of. Both have the 'standard' Jay Boy design but one has the typical cream coloured background, the other one has the multi coloured background known from other London releases.
