  2. You're sure it's not the M.B.'s (As in Modern Blues Sounds) on B-Jet?
  3. Very likely to me that Charly lists Levanna as an artist just due to technical reason (website database), e.g. Discogs lists compilers like Ady C as artists as well. Levanna/Abby and her mom wouldn't be the first one or even currently the only ones trying to exploit the scene financially would they?
  4. Wanted: Tail Feathers - Now Ain't That Love/That's The Way It's Gonna Be - Uptite 252 Must play fine, either label variation fine with me. Please PM me. Thanks!
  5. Honestly, I don't believe you. Maybe you got some dates mixed up. Make up your mind was first as 100 club 45 in September 1998. Do you really think it's possible they got hold of the 100 club 45, dubbed it for their bootleg in the same year? Highly unlikely. Brooklyn Born is Rich Rosen.
  6. As english isn't my first language I'm prone to mishear english lyrics. Like you it sounds like "Is it jane" to me. But it wouldn't make sense. Anyone care to explain who's Jane?
  7. The unsold stock haul was first and yes sold via Rich Rosen in 1997/1998. Few months later Rich started to list these infamous pressings of Kissi Jacobs, Johnny Watson and probably many others I can't remember right now. The Ringleaders, Towanda Barnes and San Francisco TKOs bootlegs turned much later.
  8. THE VELVET SATINS - NOTHING CAN COMPARE TO YOU - G.A. W/D - VG+ 250 GBP ono SOLD Stamped original. Plays nice. 10 GBP for tracked shipping from Germany - insurance available at cost. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Will state low value on customs declaration Paypal only (F&F preferred). Any questions, please PM. Thanks!
  9. How about Exciters "Blowing up my mind"? No need to quote, there are plenty of lines in these lyrics that could make one smile. Anyway, my favourite line "It's almost like eating beans by the pound. Then wrapping up in adhesive tape from the waist down"
  10. If that makes you smile, how about if infact they're saying "part one, and part two, and part three if we have the time" 😉
  11. This record deserves to be treated like an expensive painting. Frame it, hang it up a wall. And leave it there. 😉
  12. Wow, many great tunes posted so far I don't wanna fill up this thread with even more YT vids so I just list my favourite 2023 tunes: * Lee Fields - Waiting on the sideline - this was already mentioned, probably my #1 for 2023. Great lyrics, melody and backing track. A lovely gem. * Both of Julian Jonah 45s on Izipho * Gary Beals on LRK - not to keen about the a-side "all of me", backing a bit too odd for me but the flip "self revolution" is a strong slowie. * Night Owls - Didn't I - great reggae take on the Darondo Pulliam classic * Thee Marloes - Every 45 by them. Soulful Indonesia * Carmichael Musiclover on LRK - Strong doublesider, only way to get on vinyl I understand, A-side quality mid to uptempo 90s sounding dancer, B-side great ballad * Latasha Lee - I don't want you - already mentioned, quality cover version of the Lovelites. * Emilia Sisco - Trouble - midtempo crossover-ish sounding from Finland * Sextones - get their "Love can't be borrowed" LP on Record Kicks! No fillers, just killers.
  13. Paul, you're qualified as a bonafide "Waldorf and Statler" Northern Soulie. Times are changing. Get over it.
  14. He might be a prick. But he's right on one thing. Your bid is binding. He could even sue you.
  15. Very sad news. Max was the very first UK DJ I ever heard here in Munich. Sometime early 90s. I clearly remember him for the excellent music and until then he was the first guy I ever saw wearing sweatpants in a night club 😁
  16. Thanks, understood. So I guess it's just a question of time until I can get Eddie Parker on MAM for a tenner 😁
  17. That was 30 odd years ago. But Steve mentioned "other types of soul music" and I was wondering to which he was referring.
  18. That's interesting. What other types would that be?
  19. That wasn't my point. My point was/is that Soul Source isn't the platform for the young ones. They prefer other ways of communication. I used to be one of the whippersnappers on here 25 odd years ago. I'm now 51 and I somehow feel I still am one of them.
  20. Excellent choice. Been praising especially the a-side since it came out. Have no idea why it didn't go massive. Quality authentic sound. Much better than most of these recent tailor-made northern soundalike productions fetching big bucks.
  21. don't wanna spoil your fun but I guess you won't find that many members below say their 40s on here. 😂
  22. Benji replied to Cover-up's topic in Look At Your Box
Was sorting through a box of old CDs and came across one that is probably the one you mentioned. "fundraiser" CD Nancy and her then partner Simone did for the first Rimini Soul weekender back in 2002. As you say Midniters, Antellects, Chick Carlton and also stuff like Little John on Gogate, Otis Lee or Sebastian Williams on Sound of Soul. Great compilation!
  23. Not saying Anderson Bros is clearly a boot but a kind of red flag for me is that seller made the effort to include a picture of the Frankford/Wayne stamp in the Detroit Soul auction to make it clear it's an original. Yet they didn't post any respective pictures in the Anderson Bros auction and refuse to answer any questions. It's like they knows it's a boot.
  24. Oops, sorry I didn't know Bobby was posted before. How about this one? Dynamics And that's a natural fact/I wanna know - Big Top. Don't think this was already posted: Just 6 years older than Bobby Reed, yet both sides sound like a million years apart
  25. Thanks for highlighting this one. I had this for decades and as it happens just played it two days ago. But only the a-side. All this time I never played the flip. Another solid Ray Pollard lead vocals track! How about Bobby Reed - The time is right for love/If I didn't love you - Bell? Both sides are ace.
