  1. I think this is excellent , and the flip “ Lost Without You “ .
  2. I think it probably did help Pete 😀Must have been one of Jackies last performances,as he went back to the States and fell into a coma ,from which he never recovered .
  3. Remember Junior Walker being great ,as was Edwin Starr and Archie Bell and The Drells .Also saw Gloria Jones ,think it was an anniversary as Marc Bolan was supposed to be there .I know I met Dave Godin again and he introduced me to Sharon Jones from Blues and Soul .Also saw Martha Reeves ,The Exciters ,Jackie Wilson ( we took a coach up from Banbury ,he wasn’t very good ) ,Tommy Hunt several times .The trouble was ,most of the acts used these uncomplimentary backing bands , which didn’t exactly enhance the singers , it wasn’t until Snake Davis came along in the Stafford era that things got better .
  4. Not very good ,from memory
  5. Packing Up - Damon Fox .I think he discovered it along with Arthur Fenn .Its hard to think of a more out and out “ Northern “ record ,and what an intro .Think he traded it with Richard Searling as part of the deal to get Larry Houston ( Top Cat c/ u) and ZZ and Company “ Get ready for the get down “ .

  11. Great photo ,without a doubt my favourite musician of all time , we all grew up listening to him ,but didn’t realise it .Really look forward to the taped interview Tim , by all accounts he must have been one of the busiest men in Soul business throughout the 60’s early 70’s , not just playing ,but writing and arranging .Cheers Eddie
  12. I believe that Dave Godin chose the Tamla Motown name ,simply writing the various label names that Gordy owned ,VIP ,Soul ,Gordy ,Tamla ,etc and seeing which ones looked best as an umbrella name for the catalogue .It could easily have been another name entirely I guess .
  13. Many thanks for sharing Tim , a record and person full of mystique and magic .Look forward to your fuller story regarding these artists .
