  1. "Music Year 2000", came out 1983, had an instr. of Al Hudsons "Spread Love" on it, and IIRC "Little Bellflower" got plays as well.
  2. If I ever hear Terry Scotts "My Bruvva" again I'll scream...overplayed oldie or what?
  3. Last night I found an old copy of "Collectors Soul" fanzine, run by Tony Berry from down this way around 1969/70, and in a column on obscure Motown by Ian the first single reviewed is the Dalton Boys...wish I'd taken notice then and not waited until it went big...
  4. Mike, you just blew your credibility...GOLF??? Jerry.
  5. ...and of course Froggy was a Glawster boy, Not Wolves though he was DJ'ing at the Cats...if he was still with us, I think he'd be amused to see his name in the Times!
  6. Have to say this is one that really stuck in my mind at the weekend!
  7. 25? With that appalling dubbed-from-a-bad-disc quality? Amazing!
  8. Yes, same song - think FOL got a few plays at the time as well.
  9. Dave Thorleys name scratched in my copies of Jimmy and Vella Cameron and Emmanuel Lasky "PLM"...Danny Everards in Carl Carlton "Competition" and Audrey Slo on Swan, and Johnny Macks in Leaders on Blue Rock and several more...
  10. Yup, "He's coming home"...have to say, still one to get the ladeeez on the dancefloor - and quite a few guys as well. Truthfully, I'm bored with playing it, but still have to dig it out occasionally!

Yes, OK it could be a pain coming down ( ) the M6 in the morning, but the journey up just heightened the anticipation!
  12. Jimmy Bee's "Wanting you" - just because there'd be a rash of coronorarys if people tried to stomp to it like they used to!

Seem to recall Tony Ellis listing one at the end of the 70's, that was the first time I'd heard about it.

Yes Mick, there were good tunes in all of WC's lifetime, just as there were naff ones (the Tiki's, Tricks etc. played in '74/75 ) but let's be honest, great or naff, most of the crowd were so caught up in the sheer fun of it
  15. Ah, but Sonday (Williams) was leased from Alteen, where it was first issued...
  16. With your luck, will you do my lottery numbers this week Wendy? Hippo
  17. Brilliant story! Hippo.
  18. Close Nik - it's UBP featuring Michael Proctor...same thing applies though, make sure you get the right 12"!
  19. Steve Snook from Cirencester, old Yate boy (alright, younger than the rest of us ) ...lives in Spain, occasional poster on this yer site. Funnily enough, he was at Soulfusion last Saturday and I was reminding him how he had a copy of Gene Woodbury "Ever again" when it was big and he probably hadn't left school!
  20. Not northern I know, but I had a similar experience last year - going through a box in a charity shop, found a copy of Deodato "Peter Gunn" on MCA, remembered giving my US copy to a girl at the time and then mislaying my UK copy so thought I'd have it back in the collection; looked closely and there's my name written on it! No northern in that shop though - the manager's on the Northern scene!
  21. ...Tony Turners "(these walls are only) 6 x 6"...
  22. Peter Hamilton Generation - Hey Girl on Jamie, Richards old Doni Burdick "Clouds" c/u (also known by some as Mike Post - Downtown Generation) - vocal sounds like Hermans Hermits!
