  1. Now that I've managed to re-solder the external cable of my tonearm, install the new PCB and fit the 220VAC motor (was 16VAC) on my turntable, I can finally play some records all over again. So I manage to play my records and for the first time the bits'N'bobs I got in lately. And the Anderson Brothers for the very first time. And as a MONO freak that I am, I first played the MONO side... It's maybe MONO but it's actually altogether another mix !!! I still favor the known STEREO side, but this is a real treat and surprise to me. A long loved record that still reveals hidden sides after all this time. Epic !
  2. But it's not the same mix. It's "cleaned" but then looses the "buzz" sound of the original mix which does half the record what it is. A bit like Phil Spector without his wall of sound...
  3. To make things right in the chronology, it was first credited 'little togetherness'. Both promo and stock issues used the same matrix/mix/take. It was then quickly re-pressed to meet the public demand and re-titled 'A little togetherness' and likely first miss-credited to the Tempos on the Monarch press (even if it's the same group) then corrected back to the Younghearts. So the Tempos is not a first press ! What is odd is that the Tempos issue still uses the date '66 on the label. Just as did 'Canterbury' 505 that is reputedly pressed on Feb. 4 1967 !!! And even the scratched in matrix of the Tempos issue reads 67-C-506A-RE !!! So the Tempos press is likely a rush release that got it all wrong in haste at the pressing plant... this is why it's rarer. One should own or gather these six releases to note down the matrix, digitally record them, compare the volume and frequencies graphics and timing to determine the different mix/takes used for each presses. People at 'Canterbury' records did use those two other pressing plants (vinyls) when needed to provide faster national distribution when they had a national hit. Canterbury 506 was the first one doing so for the label.

Same back 2 back, classic "sandwich" folded sheet in Belgium, Holland and France for those peculiar "early" Atco series. My copy is pristine though if ever you'd need a good quality scan...

Had a bunch of promo Jotis copies years ago and ended only keeping my French Atco which plays as good as it looks if I remember right.
  6. Mhhh... can't say, I have sold my Belgian Palette copy ages ago so I can't compare the matrix with the label, but you could be right. One would have to check.
  7. The very first issue is the Belgian Palette with picture cover ! André Brasseur is Belgian and it was recorded in Belgium. Jus' sayin'...
  8. Hi Kitty, would you provide us with a scan of it ? Cheers, Tim
  9. I do care and I really appreciate to see the artists pictures and their color on the pictures shows, most of the time that is. They kinda tell a story and I love that. By the way it's only my opinions given on the original question and I meant no offense to anybody's lifestyles, beliefs or personal and even universal conceptions, taboos or sacrements. Not too long ago, I was thrilled as shocked to discover (through SS) the Promises 'living in the footsteps of another girl' video-clip to revive it for me more than ever. The same goes with a picture of the Martells featuring Clifford Russel on A-LA-CARTE I was once given !!! Works beautifully when these beliefs drop with facts. Kickin' life like an old tin can...
  10. Right on ! I never cared for either the MVPS or even Ann Sexton 'you've been gone too long' honestly. I still find to this day she has better materials. It's nothing to do with pedigree. Pedigree credits can add to something you like or make you think about it another way, but it can't do it all ! Listening to music with the ears tastebuds still comes first !
  11. Lee David 'temptation' always sounded white to me. And it sounds as poppy as it is soul music IMHO. The Janus up there is only soft pop-country stuff, never southern soul ! Not to worry though, as there are many black singers out there I don't bother to listen to and some white "soul" singers I dig at times... It's good information to know at times as it is interesting to know stories behind artists, songs and records.
  12. Don't understand the "PB" but there's a circular "G" kinda machined symbol and on the mono side the run out groove is bigger than on the stereo side and it's all genuine. The mono side also has partial scratched out letters between numbers in the matrix.
  13. I slide it into a spare one I have. It was dressed in an Arista company sleeve when he bought it. I had to pull out some nice "northern" soul 45's out of my collection and complete the trade with few out of my sales box as well to feel safe on the deal on both sides though. At last I own this track that I always loved.
  14. A friend of mine recent find on a flea market in Belgium at €2.50 !!!
  15. Orange or yellow label ?
  16. smthg lk tht... and there's always room for the odds...
  17. Otis is French mate !
  18. More clearly; if you look at the discography of Musicor, you'll notice that this Fab. Dino Musicor 1025 was most normally followed by Musicor 1026 that also used both pressing plants and so label variations was still still running but they didn't use the previous older logo labels afterwards. Most likely they ran out of them by then...
  19. Hmm, only different pressing plants Ady. The promo copies exists with both designs. The one from RobbK is vinyl and billb is styrene. It's a classic case where one pressing plant still had the old design pre-printed labels to run presses where the others have already switched to the new ones.
  20. Why did it cease to be underground ? Well because it got taken over by a "wave" of wanna bees underground and "some" promoters and other business people only had to jump on the wagon. Then the medias thirst for the normal "odd" everyday people have something "lite and funny" (unlike the real news of the world) to dish to the yobs, oh sorry I meant the readers. You also have those huge week-enders venues that are so far of the streets it just can't be underground anymore. I doubt it really has anything to do with a sort of passion for that music. Then if makes you wanna dance to. For manies, I believe it's most likely an artefact to go along with the rest like the clothes (all the same brands), the "group" (follow the leader) codes (need to belong) or the bike (with engine if you can afford the gas)... maybe, it's only a maybe, that is why...
  21. I had exactly the same few years ago for a sole 7" record from the USA when P&P was still non discriminating to non USA residents and the complicity of the seller willing to fool custom on commercial value didn't force me to break the bank to take it home. So it's only the fun of it and not the expenses around it that made it stay in my souvenir.
