  1. Brilliant track, though I think the flip deserves a bit more than 'The flip will appeal to lovers of deep soul harmony' That’s a seriously good slow side, if 'Inside Guys' wasn’t so good 'Friend Heartaches' would be the A.
  2. This is a brilliant record, but I did not realise there are two mixes of this track on Mary Jane label. Maybe the Detroit aficionados out there can fill us in, but I was just listening to the auction JM has at the moment, on the Chequered (Full) label, and the one I have on which has white top / below label. I can see they are actually different release numbers, so why did this get two releases? Malc

  7. is this novelty or a R&B flavored thing? doesnt look soul to me...
  8. Good selection of stripper songs! There was a big market for this stuff wasnt there...
  9. I'm guessing the Jaysina Enterprises Inc was Primarily a Production company, with their own studios 'Jaysina Sound Studios' in Brooklyn. The discs that I have found have different dialing codes, anybody from NY on here, do you know the difference between LT & JU? assume they are seperate local dialing codes. Re Larry Foster, I found a track called 'My Christmas Message To The World' a very forgettable novelty record. Turns out he was a comedian and voice actor, as well as producer with Morty Jay and Sandy Sina. He was in a quartette called 'The Kirby Stone Four' along with another comedian Marty Brill, they did nightclubs and TV work nationally. I did find this track below for Morty Jay, which came out on Kayden, a label we all know well. Good R&B organ track. Also found this Chris Calloway track, 'Bewitched' which must be the programme of the same name, surely? Says self published, so maybe Chris simply recording something she could shop about to promote herself, or were they asked to submit for the show... we may never know. So, Im guessing they did their own productions, had connections in the entertainment business, Radio and TV, and I'm guessing would take on other work that came through the door as all these audio recording businesses would, especially given their location in Mid Town Manhatten and Brooklyn.

  12. Just seen this online, on a sales website, I’ve had Bell Sound acetates of Manhattans Carnival 45s before, but never seen this, a publishing acetate? The address, West 51st Street is mid town Manhattan, so geographically in the right place...Bell Sound is/was loacted at 237 W. 54th Street. Interesteting acetate... anybody know anything about JAYSINA Enterprises ? The Manhattans - I Call It Love / JAYSINA Ent inc acetate
  13. Very cool picture, I did ask myself if it could be AI, but you can see 'shake' due to the long exposure. Dead horse is a bit disturbing.

Imagine a microphone being simply dropped Robb, and the sound it would make… I’m no Hep Cat, but President Obama did this on his final speech.. quite funny, you can find it on you tube

Think thats a 'mic drop' kids...
  20. Ok, that had to be the case.
  21. That’s allot of tracks, great to see, but surely this a double Lp? Or is the CD the only way to get the ‘bonus’ tracks?

Should we mention Mercury’s efforts to produce the thinnest styrene 45s possible, why bother with vinyl if you can use a different cheaper material to press with. Did styrene ever get used outside of the USA? I Can’t say I’ve ever come across a foreign styrene 45.

Yeah there a few notorious releases on Trax that you never find nice copies of. That said allot are perfectly fine, all the early releases are better, it’s the later stuff by say 89, when Sherman started to heavily cut his production costs, he really didn’t care as long as the presses kept going. * actually I think he was just also trying to keep up with demand, which was mental to say the least.
