  4. thats good to know, I have her other releases but never got this one, obviously this is from a certain auction going on on-line at the moment, which i was sure was the real deal, but as I've said, id always seen the gold one for years, then a orange/white in the mid 9ts... just out of interest Robb, who do you think Monique really is? Mal
  5. I wonder, Monique - if you Love me, when I first personally discovered this 45 it was always on Gold copies, then in the mid nineties Orange / white ones started to appear, was that always the case? mal

  7. Anybody remember Ravin Maze? basically Joey Negro, anyhow the chart release was crap, this is the version to get, drivin beats! Id imagine this is the sort of thing you will find allot of in that haul...
  8. I collected, and still collect house, I bet there are some killers in that lot, if you go back all the British stuff that came out alone from 87-93, all the Italian Imports that came over, and we haven't got round to the yank stuff yet! I bet Jason at Hard to Find Records is kicking himself! Here's a track that takes me right there, remember asking for the 'Mars Bar' record at Don Christie's in Birmingham.. the great thing was he knew what I meant! Laughs..
  9. Always had a fascination with Brunswick records, as I'm sure we all do. Just re reading Robert Pruter's bible 'Chicago soul' again, and it struck me that all the Brunswick 45's I love and buy seem to have come a certain period when Carl Davis was at the company and they created their own sound. According to Pruters book, once he had left the company taking with him many of the key arrangers / musicians the company's production line if you will kind of ground to a halt, and they heavily bought acts and artists songs to release. I keep coming across 45's that are so so, some are pretty bad in fact, and unless they are actually earlier releases than the Golden 'Soul ' period, I assume they fall under that category of being bought after Davis left the company... My question is this, whats the best of that period? Malcolm
  10. If's its on the BBC it should make the regional news catch-up? M
  11. Hi mate, James D Hall - I Wanna Get Into You - £75.00 Original or those one he was putting out via Ebay? mal
  12. I'm really surprised at how well this club has gone, along with Second City Soul crew, I grew up in Birmingham and it was devoid of anything really bar the Rigger and one or two small do's in Digbeth on occasion... I wish all this was going in the eighties and nineties, would have been great... as for the BBC, well that makes it a great night to remember for all that attend. Good luck with Friday, the picture you have used looks great btw.. Malcolm
  13. anybody? Mal;{))

  25. You lean something new every day in this game, always loved Cornel Gunter's 'Love in my Heart' and I was aware of him being in various earlier Doo Wop groups, but had no idea he was openly gay in the way this article says.. https://www.ronaldmatters.com/gay-black-history-music-legend-cornell-gunter-1936-1990/ Some good pictures from this online article, kinda makes sense seeing them, I dont think Ive ever seen a shot of Cornell, maybe as part of the coasters perhaps... His sister was in the music business also...
