  9. well said... I remember I was speaking to some guy at a party years ago, who had been to a do for the first time, and he told me he really hated it, the dancing, the vibe, and the music, oh and the drinks were expensive, which kinda left me with a blank expression, all I could say was along the lines of 'It's very special to me, and I love it.' so we parted company and I never spoke to him again... as for Ravin!!! Love this, cause it wasn't to far from the truth!! we've all made complete fools of our selves... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UeyG4UJDlKo malcolm
  10. No No No, if I had the cash I'd buy either.... make no mistake!! I think quite allot of what is on the net contradicts its self some times, this site has seen many examples of this recently with new to 'Soul' folk taking what they see online as gospel, allot of times it simply isn't... there are guys on here though, as no doubt your aware really do know whats what, and they have gained that experience from knowing the folk involved or simply being around when stuff come out... old gits with real deal knowledge, and I mean that very respectfully... m
  11. Be honest I dont know why, but there are lots of cases where somebody connected with the label or song goes off and releases another 45 of a song, think 'the Phantom - Come back to me' on Karisma, and Sonny Craver on Musette, think we discussed this recently and its highly likely a different singer, also Melvin Davis on Groovesville and John L Brown - I'm Losing You is another discussed on here.. I dont think the Mr Soul is a fake, its one of those 45's that came out twice, very likely due to somebody either believing in the song, and putting it out again, Or maybe as allot of times with record labels in the 6ts there was some sort of dispute, and another 45 was released, strange it's on the same label, my examples above aren't, but we dont know. Its a puzzle for sure.. Malcolm
  12. Same song got released twice on the same label, this is the exact same mix isn't it, not a re-recording by another artist on the label...not uncommon really...

Only connected in the name, I used to license still images to various record companies in the 9ts for an agency I represented. Got a call from acid jazz records one day, by somebody who was asked to call some images in for one of their projects, she gave her name 'Ann Sexton' and I said 'Really?' she replied yes my names Ann Sexton, I said you must get this all the time, but your obviously aware of the singer of the same name, and honest to god she had never heard of her. How can that be, working for acid Jazz Records, your names Ann sexton, but you have no idea of the history of that name... I was stunned, but I quickly explained, and even offered to send her a CD, early years for the internet here remember, but she didn't seem bothered.. Thought I'd heard it all... Malcolm
  23. My Sam has a 'Lord of the Rings' game he got from the AppStore Pete, all his mates play that one, was pretty cheap £5 or so, big though 3gb on my iPad.... Worth looking at as a possible option...I'll pip you a link Mal
  24. Not wanting to steer away from Bob's original question, but I, as I'm sure you you all do, absolutely love 'What I Want" so here's the slightly lesser know version by Gloria Taylor, took a while to get this and luckily it came from a mate at a great price. Funny one, I've asked major dealers for it over the years and they have have all said they had never had it, maybe it a 45 that gets more attention from the Funk scene, dunno but sound and production wise its very much like the selector sound LP, that rare one, most probably recorded in the same sessions... Bit of Dale Warren brilliance...with a very different take on the song... as for Sugar aint sweet, its ok, its a bit all over the place for me, you do have to try to with it dont you... Malcolm

did the Tower's make a 45, or is it a Lp only? You know the thread title reads like Phyllis Brown has died, or maybe its just too early for me... Malcolm
