  1. Its ok, the 45, but its not a patch on the Kent CD release, this is from the Classiest Rarities series folks, most folk on here already have it, take the time to compare them and you will hear the difference.... as I said I was happy to let the 45 go, keep the Mp3.... never thought Id ever say that! Cant stand that Joseph Webster 45, awful track, backing is great, just hate he way he sings it.... he a far better singer than he is on that 45... M
  2. 'Thats Enough' I was told most are boots, ages ago now, but its stuck in the memory... I have no evidence to prove that of course, and given it's a Chicago track, I kinda feel its unlikely, but there you go, its a suggestion... I think the thing with this is the 'Track' Richard is alluding to, is a very much accepted original... but then he does not know the answer to the question does he??? Richard what are you on about mate???? laughs Malcolm
  3. whats your email? the Kent one has vocals to the fore, the released 45 they sound way in the background, id have to listen again to say whether the backing is any different, but the vocal alone for me made it sufficient enough to not need the 45.. M
  4. Isn't Roscoe Robinson on Gerri a good candidate for this 'unknown' track? That and some of the Tuff stuff? Would this dealers first name be Richard by any chance? M
  5. The Younghearts - Little Togetherness? is it an obvious 'Classic' title, or something more obscure? M
  6. 'Rare Boot"!! thats got me scurrying back the the racks to check.. mines has labels the right way round and is an MR stamp (69165)... thats deffo a sixties release isnt it? m
  7. I know the released 45 does not do justice to the version Kent put out on CD, half the reason i sold mine, every time i played it, it just wasn't like the Kent one, which I love to death...
  8. Seems prices have gone up on allot of stuff recently, I'm being quoted silly amounts by some folk on here. They own these tracks so you ask what you want for it, I respect that, but I'm not going to pay more than a tenner for most 2nd issues. In the past Mel Britt was the one which fetched £20 and above, what do folk think, and is there anyway we can get some sort of pricing guide for this? Pls dont mention John Manship, people should in my opinion simply ignore anything to do with his prices, because they are too inflated. You can say Its a sellers or buyers market, but what do folk think? Malcolm
  9. Not seen that many with the labels the wrong way, obviously I'd rate those less in price than a perfect one. I paid £80 or so for my cartoon 45, very very mint condition..if thats of any help... Malcolm
  10. Wow, Missed this thread. I've collected allot of the Musette 45's, and tried to piece together the history of the label, I have a contact with a daughter of one of the then co-owners of Musette records, so happy to ask about the the Phantom / Stanton / Musette couplings, see what comes back. Agree with the above, the Phantom is definitely the better of the two releases (Musette, Karisma) on 'Come Back to Me'... Erin is deffo Lenni's father, and he turns up all over the place. His Musette 45 is very good and the song and his voice is a dead ringer for Bobby Blands "Yeild not to Temptation' in fact its a very thinly disguised version basically. So Erin Rucker and Erwin Groves are one of the same person... Bit of Maths for ya.... yes thats Math with an 'S' to our American Brothers and sisters... Laughs
  11. Little Ritchie - Just Another Heartache / Seventy seven Records (2nd Issue) has anybody got one of these? Malcolm
  12. Cheers Pottsy, Ive cleaned that up if anybody else wants to use it for their i-Tunes library Mal
  13. Could I get a straight on scan Pottsy, it's for my I-tunes? Malcolm
  14. does that squiggle have any significance Simsy?
  15. Dunno if his names not Fiona, or advertising on live Network, I'm not interested... I liked the term Parallel Universe NS scene, so I Google'd it, came up with 'Doomsday'....
  16. isn't that Mick Smith?
  17. Here's a couple of good ones, Jessica and John showing us the sheer Exuberance of Dance, and the uncanned shock of finding out you cant use talc.... Mal
  18. I'm still chuckling at this, funniest thing Ive heard all week...
  19. Don't remember anybody on the House scene ever covering records, you could get the names of things quite easily back then, back then being 88 through 93/4. But I think that was part of the House / rave scene, it was open to anybody and everybody. The Northern scene although attended by thousands upon thousands has and always will have a core which is very selective about who comes in.. Ive never ever liked that aspect of the Northern Soul Scene and Ive never felt as welcome in the way I did on the House scene. But Northern Soul Music is utterly brilliant and I love it to death... But Dj's and covering records.... get over yourselves.. Malcolm
  20. Paul I had the same reaction as you seeing that, dreadful web site as well. But different people access 'Northern soul' and all that in many different ways, who am I to to say this is crap when clearly there are folk enjoying it..no where near my cup of tea at all, but good luck to Fiona... "It's fit, it's fun and might bring out a reaction in some." !!!
  21. this is a must see, Jamie Principle on 'Your Love'.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EznncXgJqyU and the story behind 'Your Love' https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uGAmuSlyNrE
  22. this was quite big as well.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4qBMDgUNMEY
  23. Cant post on the thread started by Mike, but Frankie's passing very much needs a look at his music on this forum. Ive got used to 6ts and 7ts soul singers passing with quite regularity; but this guy was something else, this is a terrible shame for such a talented artist. Here's two favorite tracks, lots of great memories attached to these two... Frankie Knuckles - The Whistle Song (Virgin Records 1991) and Frankie Knuckles Presents Satoshi Tomiie https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Opewcd5gKHo https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QIdimVDuSEU Frankie Knuckles Rest in peace... Malcolm
